shipping coins and customs forms........need some help please

  I mail them from Kabul, Afghanistan... and I always write "Coins."

  I write "numismatic collectibles". I think perhaps one time, I was asked to make it more specific, and if so, did.

  What CG1 said. I usually use the word "numismatic" instead of "coins".
  
  Of course a friend in Greece scolded me for that- they invented the word, he said, so it made it blatantly obvious.
  
  But within the USA, and probably a lot of other countries, I would imagine many laymen (and would-be package thieves) are less conversant with the term "numismatic" than with "coin". Then again, "numismatic" might be more recognizable than the English word for "coin" in some countries.
  
  "Hobby supplies" is even more vague.

  Low value items, I write "numismatic items" or anything else the buyer wants me to write so long as it is honest (for example, many countries have no import duty on .999 or higher gold). High value items I use the proper code number and file all the govt paperwork before export.
