    Actually, he was one of the better sovereigns of Britain, in my opinion. And yes, I believe overall he was well liked.

    I think he smelled really bad, never took a bath and the people around him just coudn't hang.....Had to get rid of the stinky guy....

    It is easy for Americans to dislike GIII, but really he was not so bad as a monarch as many others. Indeed he was a very simple man of slightly less than normal intelligence but he was smart enough to have surrounded his governance with people of higher intelligence that set Britain on a course to go into the 19th century at a paramount. He shared much in common with his great granddaughter Victoria, they were both simple people but had great people working for them. There were a couple of monarchs now largely forgotten, GIV and WIV from 1820-1837 that could have been much harm to the monarchy and Britain as a whole had they reigned longer, mercifully their reigns were shortened which would lead thence to a very long and prosperous reign for Victoria.
