Some new additions to the fledgling type set

When I found out this Washington quarter was part of TomB's registry set I bought it without blinking. If it was good enough for Tom........I love the colored obverse and the chiseled reverse.
The 2C piece spoke to me as I'm torn between blues and reds and this one had both. MJ

    Washies usually bore me but that one is superb. I really like that 2-cent piece, almost makes me want to start collecting them too.

    Random thoughts - As a relatively new collector, I am continually intrigued by the fact that coins like this 2 cent piece have been preserved in uncirculated condition. Something in me seems to think that coin collecting should be a more recent phenomena than that. Although I've also seen that coins have been collected as long as there have been coins; so although I intellectually know better, it's contrary to my instinct.

    There's my random thought for the day - now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

    The quarter is a no brainer... KILLER COIN!


    The 2center, while a series I dont know well, is copper correct? The issue I have with this piece is that the obv had color I would think was caused by MS70 on a Lincoln or IHC... Im not sure, but I dont know about that piece. I could be wrong though.
