USA Curling Team

This is probably not the year there will be Olympic cards made for the USA Curling teams.
Have had no sleep for the last couple of days watching them compete. I work night shift.

3 of the 4 members of the US women's team could get a shot at the title and the other one could on a good weekend night.
  • Now there's a blonde on the Great Britain team that would rate a card of her own.

That blonde chick from GB team is as hot as that blonde on "V"

The anchor on the mens team has gagged 3 for 3 on game winning shots so far

It is very addicting once you get watching. I was up in Canada a few years back during their national championships (or some kind of championship) and it was on 24/7. By the end of the week I really got into it.

  • Curling rivals hockey in Canada it is insane. When the have the nationals for the men called the Brier they host it in Large arenas. The final game can get close to 15,000 people to watch in attendance.

did anyone else see the US Captain butcher another game just now? All he had to do was NOT hit that last stone head on and the US wins. That's 4 times he's blown the game winning shot. He should go back to bartending and hang his broom up.

Watching it again today. the US anchor gagged a win for the fourth straight game. The US should be 3-1 instead they are 0-4. The one today was like so easy a beginner could have done it.

Disclaimer: I could not have done it, just saying how simple it was, even the announcer couldnt believe how bad he yakked it

Yeah, that so-called Skip really stinks. I mean, I've never tried Curling, but if this guy is on the Olympic team he shouldn't Buckner it every single time. BTW, watching it makes me want to have a pitcher of beer and play shuffleboard!

Curling is A LOT harder than it looks...
  • corvette1340corvette1340 Posts: 3,384 ✭✭✭
I don't doubt that curling is very hard. The hardest part though, would not be throwing the rock but the sweeping. I don't see how there aren't more rocks hit by errant sweeping or people tripping and falling down. The throwing, however, is all touch and precision that the best the US has to offer shoul be more profficient at, just like any other sport that is practiced for hours upon hours.

I have to confess, I know nothing about the game.

I saw a few seconds of it the other day.

I saw on the cable show - "How is it made" - how they make the stone.

    And that's about it.

By the way, the USA women blew another game tonight too.

The young lady we are speaking of is on the left. Her name is Eve Muirhead and she is 19 years old.

I never grew up with this sport and it looked odd to me at first, but I respect and learn more every Olympics.

The girls on the various teams are attention grabbing. They make good lures. Thanks for posting the photo of Eve Muirhead.
