it does. i couldn't resist. there was, in fact, a mox emerald beneath. there seems to be a correlation between the top card and bottom card.

Seems unlikely he will get 10 10 given he already had them graded.

How do the cards look? Is it worth cracking & re-submitting them?

In any event, they would probably be worth keeping hold of if you can afford to as they would be good trade bait for other 10s in the future; I tend to find people are more willing to trade for hard-to-find cards than they are to sell them...

Interesting about the Mox Emerald - it't not always true, but I think that's the third instance of that happening that I've heard of.

the emerald is really nice. i can't figure out why it's not a ten. might be worth cracking. the lotus os really nice . 3 corners are perfect. teh centering and surfaces are perfect as well. one corner has a little white from being top card in the deck. too bad. i thought it would come back as 8.5 or nine.

they are hard to part with. i've got some nice offers so far. we'll see...

Unless you think there is a risk of getting downgraded, it would be worth giving them another shot given the different in value between an 8 and a 9 - it sound like they stand a good chance of a bump!

Current #3 Finest Alpha Set (Thanks for the images Moose!)

Released in 1993, the initial offering of the set is excedingly scarce in high grade or sealed packages. The method they used to cut the corners of the cards, as well as the fact this was a game with the cards designed to be shuffled, make collecting a high grade set difficult. Copies of the key card in the set, the Black Lotus, typically fetch $2500 in raw NM-M condition while one in PSA 10 condition have sold in the neighborhood of $20,000. The top sets in the current registry command values approaching $100K as there is a very thriving market for pristine cards.
