image why? for the big 1-2 inches of snow we got? image

edited to add... no offense intended towards our southern neighbors, who did, in fact, get walloped with snow... here in north Jersey... we got next to nothing... in the way of snow, that is...

    Larry,

You only got snow because you live in South Jersey. (Note: Anyone south of Newark Airport lives in South Jersey. Aside from the shore, anyone else south of, say, New Brunswick, actually lives in Maryland)

I'm at work right now in Rockland County, NY 3 miles north of the Jersey border. We haven't seen a single flake.

Oh, and I will be at the show tomorrow image

I didn't see you there but I figured you were in Long Beach.

It's a weird show, I know one dealer who does better at the Old Bridge show, and I know some guys who swear by it.

the show was kind of dead....many tables empty (regulars who didnt make it)

i did observe one guy trying to sell 08-W unc buffalos to a dealer (1 ounce coin and a 4 coin set), who promptly offered him $1050 an ounce and went on to explain that they are just bullion......

the guy walked away, knew what he could get online and just laughed.

I can't just let this comment slide on by... if you considered the show dead... I wonder just what you consider live image

The dealers around me and myself... we were swamped for several hours... I had people at my table non-stop for the entire morning... some folks could not even get near my table for all the people already there... but maybe that was just a "local" experience for my little place in the room...

Yes...there were a few dealers who were not in attendance... either Long Beach or the snow that DID fall not too far south...

And then there was Jon/Scarsdale Coins... a "funny" thing about that... I recently spoke with him about how I was dropping the White Plains show for very similar reasons to his for dropping Parsippany... in five years I have not been able to build up enough business there to merit the hassle of the travel and set-up... yet when I walked the floor there at the last show in January, I did more business, buying and selling, in just 6 hours, then I have ever done there in an entire weekend... and if I had been set up, I would not have been able to do the buying that I did... and then turned around and sold much of what I bought in White Plains at the Parsippany show... kind of ironic... because Jon does very well setting up at White Plains (or so he has told me image ) but then, that is his "home turf" image

BTW... 7over8... I don't think we have had the pleasure of meeting... maybe we did but without the mention of being fellow forum members... anyway, please stop by some time... many forum members come by my table and it is always fun to introduce forum members to each other ( unless, of course, if you prefer anonymity )... image

    Larry,

Please update your signature to say "You REALLY REALLY SUCK!! - rld14 1/30/10"

    Thanks! image

I couldnt really get near your table till after 12.. and then I had to run off to the dealership... wasn't even my day to work either image

Jon sells nice stuff, surprised that he didn't do well at Parsippany, OTOH, I'm surprised that you don't do well at White Plains... go figure.

I thought it was a pretty good show - there were some empty tables, but the floor was pretty crowded.

(if you're interested in reading it, my full show report is ATS.)
