do you think their value will go up or down in the future. my son wants some but i think they will be more affordable as Kobe and Lebron break more records
i'm just saying GENERALLY. dont' want to get into specifics. figured his stats and mabye championships might get overcome by one or both those two and therefore the greatness of jordan could be slightly put into perspective
Jordan is the Ruth of basketball. Regardless of Ruth's records being broken, the demand and prices remain strong. I would think that any dips in Jordan pricing for key issues has already been effected and the cards should remain solid staples for the long haul.
Thanks for ur opinion OTWcards. My only thought is that when Jordan played (like Ruth) it seemed like nobody could ever top his greatness anytime soon. But unlike Ruth, within a few years a couple great players (Kobe and Lebron) have come along to potentially match his awesomeness
There could be only one! There have been some great players in the NBA, just look at the 50 Best. I've never seen any of the Golden Era players so I'll stick with the modern(Dream Team). Jordan was the player to emulate. What he did with his shots and dunks is what people were at awe with. Nike's marketing campaign with Jordan will be looked at in history as the original and greatest when it came to apparel and shoes! There aren't "collectors" of Kobe's or King James shoes. Look at Kobe and King James, I assure you they grew up watching Jordan and "tried to be like Mike". There will always be the original, if anything Jordan is the "Mantle" of basketball. I'd save the Ruth comparison for Wilt Chamberlain.
His airness will always be in demand. Kids now might like Kobe or King James better but in the end Jordan will be know as the greatest to ever play the game (argubaly)
If you are looking for a rookie card, the price probably won't move much. If you are looking to get an autograph, you may be able to find one cheaper in the future as Upper Deck keeps producing them to water down the market.
Jordan cards will consistently be better than Kobes or LeBrons because, as was mentioned earlier, he will always be the Babe Ruth of basketball.
That being said, cards of current players may surge in popularity, but once they are out of the spotlight, their cards will still on average be less popular than Jordans.
The main problem now is that during the 90's and early 2000's, EVERY set seemed to have dozens of Jordan cards, parallels, subsets, inserts, parallels of subsets, parallels of inserts, autos, gold embossing versions of each card. Which meant that basically, he has thousands of cards, which were printed during the time of massive overprinting. There will not be a shortage of Jordan cards for a while. Heck, at last count, I owned a little over 700 myself, most of which I got from pack busting. I think the early 90's inserts were some of the best looking and hardest to get out of a pack just because of the sheer volume of cards.

Grant Hill and Vince Carter were being called "The Next Jordan" pretty much right away. Obviously that had more to do with stupid hype than the true greatness that Bryant and James are approaching. Still so far away from merely being top 10 all time to absolute best ever. What turned Jordan from great to greatest in history was being the best player on the floor in the Finals six times. So far Bryant and James have combined to achieve that once
LeBron James turned 25 this season. Right after Ruth retired, Jimmie Foxx hit his 226th homerun at age 25. More than twice as many as Ruth hit through the same age. Both Jordan and Ruth were among the all-time greats in their 20s. It was only by sustaining and even getting better into their 30s that they are so easily ahead of Magic and Mantle. Could Bryant or James be the one to do so? Yes, but the odds are against it
There is a reasonable chance Jordan cards will be cheaper in the future, there is a very small chance it will be because better players have come along

Whether or not Kobe and Lebron break or don't break records also may or may not play a role.
