The introduction thread
After reading some of the recent threads about this board and it's problems I've decided that lately I've been more of the problem than the solution. And for that I would like to appologize to the board and ask for a fresh start. So this is my introduction thread. If anyone else would like to post an introduction here please feel free.
My name is Chris and I'm a bank accountant from Kansas City, MO. I've got a wonderful wife named Angie and two amazing sons named Andrew (3) and Braden (10 months). My main collecting interests are Roy Campanella, St. Louis Cardinals (especially HOFers and pre-war), and oddball baseball memorabilia like checks and stock certificates that are baseball related. Here are a few of my favorite pieces:
1933 Kansas City Blues stock certificate autoed by Tris Speaker and made out to Tom Pendergast

That takes alot of courage - and since I tend to not remember who said what - I would just like to say good morning - and that's some really nice stuff!
But I especially like the Tris Speaker item!!!!
Thanx for sharing

Same here. I tend to avoid the fray anyway; I have enough stress raising 3 kids.
My name is Nick, and I'm an environmental specialist. My cu id, Indy78, reflects the fact that I'm originally from Indiana (now living in Virginia), and I opened my first baseball pack in 1978.
What I enjoy most about this hobby is going to card shows and searching for the best looking 1975 mini's I can find. I've long since completed the set, but I continue to enjoy collecting them. In addition to collecting the cards in my sig line, I'm also slowly building a Topps baseball set run between 1975 and 1992. I have completed sets for years 1975 through 1983 and 1991. I plan on purchasing the others as complete sets over the next year or two, as I'm in no hurry on this project.
I appreciate having this site as both an outlet and learning tool, and hope it continues. There are alot of really nice folks here.
My name is Richard and I'm a Project Manager (IT) from S. Calif. I recently got married (1/16/2010) and still trying to get use to the idea of sharing EVERYTHING.
My fondest memory: I began collecting back in 1982 and remember riding my bike to the local convenience store to get milk or whatever for my mom. I would purchase packs of '82 Fleer while I was there and hide them when I got home, because I didn't want my mom to yell at me for 'wasting' my money. Now I hide them from my wife.
Love the Campy items, but the Stock Certificate is amazing...

Thanks for sharing.

I hadn't seen that certificate before. Did Tom P have part ownership in the team? I wonder if he was like a NY Tammany guy.
