  • Summerof68-that's THE ONLY dealer that I considered would have held back multiple cases. However, after his passing,I understand family took over the business.I haven't seen anything regarding 1986 Fleer basketball in their eBay store or website. I'm also surprised they dont have more 1971 Topps boxes/packs. I'm confident he cornered the 72Topps HI series FB and the 68-70 cello BB market, they just seem to have a never ending supply.

No it is courtesy for you as the owner of the card to inform the grading company that you have crossed over a card from to inform them that the cert# no longer exsists and is now being protoected in another companies holder and pop report. I think for PSA your supposed to send in the cracked slab and flip and they will remove it from their population reports. Few adhere to this I am sure.

So, if we send PSA a flip from a crackout, or a message that we have crossed-over a PSA card to another grader, they remove the card from the Pop report?? Are you sure? I've never heard that.

Yes, I am 100% positive. It was discussed at the PS luncheon this year at the National, ensuring pop reports are as accurate as possible, so they and according to PSA, Beckett will also remove cert #'s from popo reports if proven they were cracked and ended up in another holder.
  • I'm curious as to the viability of this set in 8? I have a nice raw set from boxes I put together when the set was new, and the Jordan already graded in 8. I'd like to put together the set in 8, but is it a worthless endeavor? I'm thinking the set in 8 would still be a nice looking set without having to pay the huge cost of 9 or 10.

I am working on this exact project - I got a little lucky with some nice lots where I was able to recoup costs by selling extras, etc, but minus the Jordan I will have easily less than $750 or $800 into it I believe - some are 8.5's and 9's too. They are nice looking as long as you don't buy the badly centered 8's that show up on occasion. 8's are also readily available - I am 10 cards short and probably spent 2 or 3 months on it? I was rather aggressive, and am now probably overpaying a smidge to fill it up. PM if you want a few to start your set off - I have a few extras.
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
  • If you're talking about grading your own cards, I would think a majority would grade 8(assuming you kept them in mint condition). You'd have to pay $5.+ per card to get graded but the sentimental value would be worth it. You can pick up common 8's at $5 or less on eBay if you wanted to buy them already graded. I'd compare your commons to the Jordan 8 and send in the best.
  • Sorry I should have been more specific. I want to keep my raw set and buy another set already graded in 8.

You would likely pay more for a set than putting together individually...just an FYI.

  • I'm sorry I need to again be more specific...I meant to assemble a set in PSA 8 form, not buy it all at once. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
