What's the recommended way to store cards

I am slowly building up my PSA collection, and don't want them all lying in my assorted boxes with all the holders jostling each other- what would the expert collectors recommend as the best method to store them (i have some on display)?
Thanks!

It seems that the collector's who have bought the JR Roop boxes swear by them....we'll see.

Edited because I'm an idiot - M.J. Roop - not J.R. Roop..lol.

Knuckles, is that PSA's test to prove that its holders are watertight??

ships their Silver Eagles in. The boxes are super-sturdy resin/plastic; marginal measurements
14 1/2 x 8 1/2 / 4 1/2. (They are built to hold 500 coins.) They hold 70-PSA cards in some of the
most secure compartments you can find; 35 in each of two compartments.
The boxes are sought after as collectibles, so they are not usually cheap. Some coin dealers
give them away to their good customers. They are almost always for sale on ebay. The
search term is "green monster." They cost $10.00 to ship anywhere in the U.S. They usually
sell for between $20.00 and $75.00, depending on how bad they are wanted by someone
at a particular moment.
They can also be made "almost" waterproof for longterm storage. When opened, they can
be used by dealers as excellent countertop "flip-thru trays" that will hold 140-PSA slabs.
(That kind of retail display is NOT recommended for high-ticket items!!) (They are also
good for postcard trays.)
The fancy wooden boxes are very pretty, but they are toooooo heavy to carry around.
The four-drawer "Craftsman" tool chest at Sears is also a real secure storage box,
but it weighs a ton. I have used just about every solution available over the past
many years, and find the "Green Monster" without equal.

Thanks for your help...

I thought of buying another couple, or even a case, just based on the positive comments here, but the free shipping ended Saturday. Oh well. Roop guys, if you would consider extending that promotion for those who bought their "test-drive" box during the special ...
Collector of Vintage Golf cards! Let me know what you might have.
Besides card board boxes especially made to fit slabs by BCW, I have found this company and products:
PSA card storage
It looks like the MJ Roop V-notch boxes, but a lot cheaper.

By the way, I water tested a PSA slab and it definitely does not hold. The water slowly got into the case and the card drank up all the water it could. Don't worry, the card was a 1991 Bowman Ozzie Smith that was an extra. Also, the case had a slight crack at the top and I didn't want to pay for the reholder so I used it as a sacrificial dummy.
I think you are referring to MBMiller25. He has some real nice cases that several members purchased. Not sure if he is still selling them.

He sells the Pelican ones. I'm also not sure if he still does.

How many slabs do they hold and how much?

Are the dimensions within the regulations of carry on baggage on airlines?

Brandon, No another foam fabricator, but Barrier could certainly do the trick for you. Ask for Russ if you want to use them, Good Guys up at Barrier.

Yes the cases are ATA approved, You will have no trouble with airline travel and all fit in overhead compartment for carry on, unless you get on one of those regional jet's then you might have to check the bag airside.

I see there is a 1510 and a 1510NF. Couldn't one simply add the foam later to a 1510NF, or is there another difference? I am thinking the model numbers are different due to how they are sold, not that the 1510 and 1510NF have other structural features.

<< <i>1510 and a 1510NF >>
Difference between a 1510 and 1510NF is the NF stands for NO Foam. Understand that when you purchase the No foam case, your getting zero foam, no lid foam, no base pad, nothing. I would spend the little bit extra and buy the with foam version because even if you have a custom insert made for your case, you will still need to purchase lid foam and will need a base pad. There is a huge difference between a NF case and WF case in terms of cost.
Hope that helps,
I was just thinking if I can find a used 1510 for $70 and get new foam for $65, then I'm still ahead when compared to a brand new 1510NF.

Andre, Dont go cheap when talking about buying a case like this. I would not buy used, as you might be inheriting someone else problems (I.E. Case is no longer watertight, airtight, dustproof). The inside foam is the most expense part of the case in most cases, The way Pelican prices there cases, there is little difference between a case with and one without foam. At the very least buy a brand new 1510 with foam and when you want to spend the money for the special foam insert to fit slabs, go ahead and do that. PM me if you want some help, I will be glad to assist.
