I just received 20 1971 Topps BB cards that used to be NM, but thanks to the guy shipping 20 cards shoved into 4 card saver II's (did not even have the penny sleeves) every card has at least 1 bent corner.

That kind of carp really pizzes me off!

I received a t-206 card of nap lajoie in a white envelope that was shipped with a 44 cent postage stamp

I paid $3.75 because I had to pay Dc!

Also received a order of cards described as g vg and all were burnt and severe paper loss

I picked up a "NM-MT" baseball set off of eBay a few weeks ago. The cards came in the typical white, 800-count cardboard set box. The thing is, the seller didn't put the set box in a second larger box with bubble wrap, peanuts, etc., to protect it. Rather, he just taped up the set box, wrote my name and address on it, slapped on a stamp, and dropped it in the mailbox. Needless to say, many of the "NM-MT" cards became "Ex-Mt." I do consider myself lucky, considering the whole set could have been ruined. As it was, only about 100 commons were damaged, and I've managed to replace about 3/4 of them. I didn't pay much for the set, so it wasn't worth it for me to send it back. Anyway, lesson learned--stick with sellers with a good track record when it comes to service.

Happened to me last month on a partial set of 77 Topps baseball. All cards got dinged badly on one corner. Lots of well centered cards including a Dale Murphy rookie went from NRMT/MT++ to EX at best. Seller did refund about 60% of my cost.

Because most board software has a "strike list" of naughty words that can be set up to replace profanity. This board doesn't appear to have it, but many old forum users that I know just automatically self-filter like that.

Sorry to hear that, but it happens quite often.

Just got a package today where the photo was just wrapped around 2 sheets of paper. I was very lucky it did not get bent in half while being handled by the post office...

I got about 10 cards from a seller in hawaii (hence my question above) that were jammed into two CS1's. When I sent him what amounted to a "WTF??" email, he said he's never had any complaints.

Have I mentioned that the lack of neg feedback from disgruntled raw commons buyers left for these guys really annoys me??

Just yesterday, I left my first negative in a long time! The seller charged me $3.00 for S/H and sent the card PWE. He hadn't had a negative in the last year and has a rating over 6000... and then I looked at his neg/neutrals on toolhaus.... just pathetic.

Today, I receive this email (followed up 18 minutes later with the eBay request to revise your feedback request).... seriously?

Cards shipped unsafely become SNAD, if they are damaged.

PayPal will refund your money, and you can return the cards.

need to be removed from EBAY.

I would follow up with something like:

"Seller sent me nasty email then begged me to change FB. See his toolhaus history."

That seller should be on your BBL. He will try to retaliate.

I've had two packages arrive recently with the PSA cases shattered. One came in a PWE (again, this seller said he has never had a complaint) and the other in a non padded envelope. I ship every graded card I sell out in a box, no exceptions. Some of these type of sellers need to be poofed from Ebay.

Oh yeah, he most definitely has been added to my BBL. I've got almost a 2000 rating, so no point saying I'm turned off by their site to try and get anything. I will however be refusing the feedback revision and reporting him to eBay for harrassment. This is the second such email I got from him... this was his reply to me sending him the following last night when he sent me a similar childish email about the negative. I thought I handled it quite well, and bluntly with him yesterday. I should have expected such a reply today.... just hard sometimes to believe that people like him really exist in the world... and by exist, I mean are able to sufficiently keep themselves alive this long. I see emails like him and I picture the guy that electocutes himself trying to hot-install lights in his shower, or gets hit by a car trying to dodge traffic in a big city because, well, people are suppose to stop for people that run into traffic.

My email reply to him last night, that preceeded this highly literate reply:

Thank you for the email. Unfortunately, I must certainly assume that an eBay seller of your feedback level is well aware that it is against eBay policy to factor selling fees into the shipping & handling charge of an item. I will simply accept your admission of such and will refrain from bringing that to eBay's attention. In closing, the effort to contact you with my complaint was, clearly, justifiably done to avoid any further hassle such as this. Why should I bother contacting a seller of sports cards who knowingly advertised and accepted a $3.00 charge to ship merchandise in the globally unaccepted practice of plain white envelope shipping? You did it, you're at fault, and there is no way that someone at your selling level doesn't know that what you did and/or do is simply wrong. I didn't deserve this poor service, nor does any other collector... so if I have to be one to expose it, and hope that you'll appropriately adjust your poor practices... so be it. Happy eBaying!

A few months ago I got a '62 Topps Venezuelan that was in a solid VG condition (which is a fairly high grade for this set) until the seller decided to tape the top of the card directly to the backing.

I ship my cards in a bubble mailer, with the graded card individually wrapped in bubble wrap. I have not had one get damaged yet, but I always wonder if that is the safest way to ship....

I can attest to this - the guy packs his stuff well.

How I do it:

1. Slab gets wiped clean and placed in a slip.

2. Card goes in #10 envelope with the contents written on the outside.

3. Three pieces of heavy cardboard are cut/placed/taped over both sides
of the envelope.

4. Peanut is dropped in bubble-mailer, to meet DC thickness-requirement.

5. Packed card is placed in the bubble mailer.

6. Packing slip, flyers, coupons, freebies are placed in the mailer.

7. Mailer is sealed and fully taped at flap. Additional tape is added at seams
and rear spine of mailer.

8. Mailer gets "DO NOT BEND" and "DO NOT CRUSH" and "FRAGILE" and "FIRST CLASS"
ink-stamps.

............

I use similar methods for ALL items that are shipped.

THOUSANDS shipped. NONE killed in transit....yet.

I tend to agree, but here's what I think happens 90% of the time:

Buyer: I can't believe you packed them like that. I think it damaged the cards.
Seller: I'm terribly sorry about that. I've never had any complaints before. Of course you can send them back (knowing that return postage is a good chunk of what you spent in the first place)
Buyer: Never mind.

and life continues without any deviation. or....

Buyer: OK, I'm sending them back.
(Seller relists them at the same grade 2 weeks later)

EDIT: also, once they tell you that you can send them back, but you decide it's not worth it, then aren't you in the same boat as far a leaving a NEG? Won't the seller will just counter your neg with "I offered to take them back and refund"?

Sending multiple cards in one CS/TL is guaranteed to hurt the cards. NEG such sellers.

Sending any card in a PWE will usually hurt the card. NEG such sellers.

IF sellers cannot make money on EBAY while shipping safely, they should be NEGd until they go away.

Cheapskate sellers are just as bad as cheapskate buyers.

I've heard of far worse than taping it to the card. I remember a thread on Beckett years ago where somebody said that he received an envelope that had been stapled shut - right through the card.
