PCGS Copper Guarantee... Am I missing something?
I thought the guarantee no longer applied to coins graded after Jan. 1, 2010.
Does that mean that it STILL APPLIES to coins graded before this date?
Several people are in a mad rush to either buy or sell their RD copper while it's "still under guarantee"
As long as the coin was graded before tomorrow (It's 12:05 EST now), doesn't the guarantee still apply? Or am I misunderstanding the policy change?

Now, who is going to determine that?

I still don't understand how anyone will determine if a coin has traded hands or not.

You think you'd have to provide a receipt if you wanted the coin to go in under the terms of the guarantee? Like a RD coin that turned RB?
I almost never receive a receipt when I buy coins.

Well for the higher end coins in Registry sets it's sort of easy and I would imagine no receipt is necessary to prove ownership before 1/1/10 if you register your coins in the PCGS registry before that date.

You better believe you will. The "or sold" part is a killer. They seem to be doing everything in their power to never have to pay off on a copper coin again and are angering more and more people as they learn the facts.

Well, their guarantee is valid for 10 years after grading, only if the coin was graded on or after 4/1/00. That means that plenty of coins in their holders aren't guaranteed, or won't be in the near future...

From what I understand, NGC's guarantee is limited to 10 years from the date it is slabbed. Sort of hard to figure out since we don't know what dates our coins have been slabbed unless we were the submitter. Of course, it also seems that the NGC guarantee is renewable if you just resubmit all of your copper coins every 10 years.

You should start getting receipts when you buy coins and that is totally apart from the copper guarantee issue. And if, for example, you win something on Ebay and the seller doesn't send a receipt, just print out the listing and/or the payment information through Ebay.

<< <i>So, my 72 DDO in an old rattler holder that went from RD to RB is now worth much less unless I find the 10 year old receipt. That sucks
Did you already put it in your registry? I would think/hope that they accept their own registry stats as well
