Hmmm. I just love all the macho weaponry that comes out when stuff like this is reported. Unfortunately the weapons are only effective if you happen to be home when a transgression occurs.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Rob, I believe I mentioned in one of my earlier posts here that I spoke to one of the police officers about this and, yes, it is the "safest city in the country" as far as bodily crime goes - but unfortunately not for property theft.
As another past burglary victim, I know the sense of violation. I suppose it wouldn't matter if it was your home or car, it's just knowing something you thought was safe, turned out not to be. To have someone in YOUR things is just offensive. I'm glad you are okay, and your husband went to work when he did, traveled in the correct direction, and found those 2 cases - all great things.
I love any dog, but the first one we owned was an Irish Setter we rescued from a shelter, and he was a prince - they are gentle souls. Yes, stick with the Shephard for security; a setter would just jump up on the shoulders and kiss a burglar to death!
I'll pray they don't come back, that everything smooths over for you. Maybe it's better to have happened this way so you can now reinforce your security to avoid a worse crime in the future. It's like having a small heart attack bad enough to scare you into taking better care of yourself.
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Marlene
Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
Sorry about your bad experience. I did not read all the suggestions, but also did not see anyone suggest you park your car in the garage. Unless you have a carport, that would eliminate a lot of the other costs incurred, just so you can leave your car in the driveway.

Durmex, let me just say that, thanks to my husband's passion, this is not an option.
I am sorry, if you go the route with security cameras MAKE SURE that they work well at night. A friend of my was robbed and it was all on tape but you could not make out any faces due to cheap equiptment. I have been ripped off a few times over the years when i lived in the city. The cars being looted did not bother me as much as when my house got robbed.
I am amazed that the cops actually tried to find fingerprints. 2 thumbs up for that.

My neighbor used valet parking and 3 days later the truck was stolen from his driveway without a trace. And he had a good security system. Cops later uncovered a huge auto theft ring with valet and auto repair employees but the vehicles (200+) and most of the criminals were already south of the boarder.

Creeps have been hitting neighborhoods here where I live too. The way they work is a group of normally lazy, teenage dingle-berries are dropped off in the neighborhood while the driver cruises the area. The s**t heads on foot quickly check all vehicles to see if they were left open and take whatever isn't nailed down. If its worth it, i.e. GPS, PURSE, CHECK BOOK, CELLPHONE, AND GOD FORBID... KEYS TO THE VEHICLE, then all items are fenced or hocked for drug money. They are also carrying a pistol in case they're approached by the owner or confronted by a watch dog while performing their low-life deeds. Carry all the pistols you want to. When I check on unexpected disturbances in the vicinity of my, as the dorks would call it "crib", I carry a 12 gauge shotgun with buck shot so I have an advantage. Would I actually shoot the turds? I'm a former marine! What do you think,? he-he-he...If the police haven't checked the local pawn shops, you might want to. That is where most items go. Good luck and never leave your vehicle unlocked, like I did once. The little slime ball barely got to the drop off vehicle to get away : Don't you just love the sound of the 12 gauge locking and loading? I swear there was unidentified brown crap leading to the getaway vehicle. Oooooorah...2Beer;

Five words! Is that LA's shortest post?
Charmy, you know we love you. Tell us if we can do anything.
