still playing with the new camera.. amazing how a camera using macro can be in sharp focus on one part of a tiny coin and not the other

I *always* wanted this coin for type and Smitty hooked me up. Thanks again Smitty!!!!!!!

The WLH is one of the few proof coins that I think look spectacular with no or little toning. This is a wonderful design and a nice example.

Proofs are super tough to shoot well. Still, those look pretty good...

especially for a circulated example such as yours.

I actually looked at the neck when I cropped this and it came to mind, but it's PCGS PR65, not AU55

I'm going to buy one of these in 2010. Do you have some LED lighting on that? It often gives that purplish glow.

Try this, if you have not done so. Change the camera to aperture priority and set it to f6.3 - 8.0 (or something near that range). It may change your depth of field (depth of focus) which may help with keeping the entire image in focus.

I don't see anything wrong with your photos. Photos of proofs often seem to have focus issues but actually it is often just reflections of the lettering in the mirrored fields making the lettering seem blurred.

The coin and the focal plane of the camera have to be parallel.
