Some dealers / sellers need instructions on the proper way to ship cards

I just needed a forum to vent a little. Normally I only buy graded cards (unless in person), but recently I started to buy raw again. Some from ebay, some from other websites mostly from sellers with high or perfect feedback or at least a solid reputation from past dealings at shows. All the graded cards were shipped properly - boxed, or bubble mailer no problems. Today's mail day though was one that really got me thinking: Do people know how to ship raw cards anymore?

Two packages today and 3 of the last 4 cards raw cards that I purchased arrived in a plain white envelope with the card between 2 pieces of cardboard with no penny soft sleve in a top loader. At least the cards started out in the top loader. Another arrived in a bubble mailer in a top loader, again no penny sleve, and for added protection a second top loader along side of the first in a team bag. I wonder if "free shipping" has started to mean "poor shipping".

Since this happened to me, and at the time I was very angry, but in the hoilday spirt, I decided to mail out 100 count bags of the penny sleves to the sellers with a little note stating that as a holiday gift from a former customer, I wanted them to have the necessary supplies to stay in business and to not ruin anymore cards. Hopefully they get the message. PS - I left the .35 cent price tag on the bags to illistrate how little it would have taken to keep a customer.

Has anyone else had poor shipping experiences recently?

Thanks for letting me vent. Happy Holidays.

  • I fidn the worst shippers are on the sight foremrly known as Naxcom, whatever its called now, whenever I use that site, almost all the cards come in plain white envelopes. I suppose this is because they get funded for there shipping by naxcom and cut costs on fees etc. this way. It just amazes me that most come from this, and most on ebay are better protected.

  • I had a Hank Aaron rookie sent this way with no penny sleeve and stuck between cardboard. I almost s*** a brick! But the card was "excellent ex" which was what they sold it as so I let it go. What a dumb-dumb.
  • the last few raw purchases (from big sellers with 100%) feedback were sent double packed in card savers or top loaders, ugh.
  • I once had a gorgeous pristine 1954 Willie Mays card shipped to me in a box filled with ONLY peanuts. No sleeve, cardboard, or any other protection. I was shocked to see how little protection the A##hole seller used.

The card miraculously graded a Psa 8 when submitted.
