I need help from the Mexico experts

I'm going through several 2x2 boxes of world coins that I haven't looked at for 10-15 years (some of the increases in Krause over that period are quite nice

). But I encountered a Mexican piece that I cannot find in Krause. I don't know if it's a minor variety or something else.

It's a 1 Real 1841 (or 1841/31) DoRM, but unlike the coins shown in Krause or online, this coin has rays emanating from behind the eagle on all sides.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I think you are seeing a die clash error, the rays are from the other side of the coin.

I initially thought that might be the case, but the structure/design of the rays doesn't look quite the same to my eye.

Yup - definitely a die clash. Would explain the rays being incused. I've seen a few examples from that period before. I'll try to photoshop the two images together tonight by overlaying and rotating the clash.

Edited to add: Looks like an overdate, as well. 41/30something.

I'd defintely suggest photoshop magic to convince yourself it's a clash.....
