cert number/insert label error

If two PCGS slabbed coins both have the same cert number which one will PCGS deem the correct one? I have a WLH on the way. According to the cert number look up, the coin should be a 1936 Cleveland 50 cents commem.

I assmue you're satisfied that the newp is real, just mislabeled.

try calling cust. serv. tomorrow. they've accidentally duplicated cert numbers before. hard to believe tho, since a good database and label-maker programmer would surely have coded to prevent this.

Send them an email. They will have you send them the coin and fix it as a mechanical error.

It is in a scarce holder, no chance of that happening.

If they can identify the owner of the 36 Cleveland would they ask them to send in the coin to be fixed?

Close, but it starts with a 9 and not a 5. It is in a doily holder so there is no way I'll send it in to be fixed. They can change the cert number in their database if they want. If they know the owner of the other coin, they may ask him. If neither wants to change so be it.

you dont have to worry about the slab being cracked.
I sent my coin in with the writing "do not crack slab" written all over the package, the submission paper, and a personal letter.
I got the coin back from them with no charge for return shipping (it did cost me to send to them though)

If they aren't going to do anything but look at it, I see no reason to send it to them. They can make the changes in their database from the pics. If I get my coin in the database as is, then the owner/holder of the other coin will be the one with a problem.

probably just a data entry error on their part. Very good chance there are not two identical cert numbers.

Since the registry accepted the cert number, PCGS doesn't know [if it even exists] who owns the other coin. I'll contact cust service after I have it in hand.
