<< <i>nice coins. most pics are great but a couple have glare. so tell us all what the lighting is? >>
some pics have glare because i couldnt get the color to show head on so i tilted the coin towards the light source.
I used two of these on both sides of the lens.
These are still somewhat washed out, play around with your light location some more.
<< <i>Glare is not diffused lighting. Glare is a light to close to a slab.

the only ones i had trouble with were the DMPLs and the proofs. I am going to try Axial lighting with the proof and dmpls tomorrow.
<< <i>Many are a little overexposed also. >>
care to elaborate?
<< <i>Try raising the lights a bit higher (put something under the base of the ott lights). That way your coins will not look 'washed out', but you're on the right track! >>
thank you i will try that tomorrow.
<< <i>Many are a little too bright. The colors will look better with a little darker picture. A small downward bump in the exposure compensation will easily do the trick (don't know what camera you are using). >>
Nikon d90
Sigma 105mm macro.

Is that what you said was the best equipment on the market?

no, my d3x is but i use that for weddings, a macro lens for that camera is expensive lol.
<< <i>The +/- button near the shutter release. >>
trying that now, what would be a good Iso to run? 500 due to the bright lights?

I set my iso to basically the lowest it will go and just leave it. There will be very few times where you would need to adjust it as you go.

Those lights are not bright. 100 or 200 would work fine.

makes sense now
i use the same lights with the side of a translucent milk jug taped over it to diffuse some light. i think your pics are more sharp than mine. again really nice coins.

I've been wanting to get a new camera and lighting for some time now, but a new Walker always seems to interfere.
Good job!
