Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie Cards Signed

Hey

I have a set of all of Ken Griffey Jr. Rookie cards (except for upper deck i think) signed and numbered. What would something like this be worth?

Thanks

Hi and welcome, are your cards slabbed by PSA/DNA or some other reputable company?

That would be needed to know if someone was to value them for you.

Also, are the sigs legible or is it a scribble?

    Pics would help.

    Good for you.
  • I would pay $50 each at most.

    Do you have scans?

If they were slabbed you could get around $80 - $125 each depending on when you decided to sell.

What do you mean and numbered.

    Numbered by whom?

Sounds like a Scoreboard item sold on TV.

They did this a lot with Ripken. Bonds, and Griffey back in the day.

Scoreboard, that is not reassuring. Isn't that the company that went bankrupt and the Goldins

sold off all types of COA's?

It was easy for forgers back then to make copies of Scoreboards certificate, and still today.

But they were always known for authentic autographs.

Problem was, they never had a "hologram" or "holoseal" on their signed items.

Anyone could take a real scoreboard COA and place it with a bad autograph.

A pic from the OP would be helpful in the authentication of the items in question.

I think that GAI authenticated Griffey does not look good. Griffeys sig looks like this...

Scoreboard product. I can't vouch for the other Fleer Griffey it does look like an early Griffey but personally wouldn't touch it.
I am not sure what year they were signed but I personally like them. I would guess 50 each?

Is that guy a rookie or something?

Pardon my ignorance but what exactly is the benefit of having those cards numbered?

Are they the only examples of those cards that he has ever signed?

To me the only significance would be that after he finished signing 500 1989 Donruss cards he

    never again signed another.

    Am I missing something?

From all indications, it was part of a Shop at Home type deal, where Griffey signed 500 of each of his rookie cards, and you bought one of the serial #'d sets. Classic / Scoreboard did a lot of those types of serial numbered deals back in the day.

Thanks, so basically they serve no real significance on that particular issue.

Now when he enters the hall of fame and decides to do a numbered set then possibly that one will have significance as long

as he makes it so it is a limited edition or numbers it in a way where it can be traced to that signing and no other.

    Thanks again Chris.
