Have any MAJOR collectors licensed their names in the past to add prestige to a collection?
Let's face it-- a name sells. Even though we don't like to admit it, if someone says they graduated from NYU Law School, that holds more weight than if they went to the John Smith Online Legal Correspondence School. Similarly, the brand name Coca-Cola holds more weight than RC Cola.
The same is true in numismatics-- names sell. For example, our very own SaintGuru is selling The Syrup of Saints™ collection, which is going to be a barn-burner because it is associated with SaintGuru.
Have any MAJOR collectors licensed their names to collections that they did not form in order to add prestige to a collection being offered by an auction firm? For example, let's say that Joe Blow has a decent collection of Saints and wants to sell them at auction next year, would it possible for him to pay SaintGuru a licensing fee and call the collection the SaintGuru Syrup of Saints II™ Collection? Or would that be an unethical practice in numismatics?

$20 Saint Gaudens Registry Set
i.e. Syrup of Saints seal of Viscosity or something like that- Similar to what Rick Snow does with photoseals.
However, if jay was paid to present a collection as if he put it together with his time, money, and quality standards then I believe you have ethical issues.
