1983 P Jefferson Nickel Mistrike

Ok so as some of you know I am getting back to coin collecting after a break during college. now that I am out I am trying to do it a bit more seriously. I picked up $70 in nickels from the bank the other day and searched finding nothing special other than filling up my jefferson albums. Then in the last roll I am flipping through the nickels and this one catches my eye. i know its not great condition and i know the picture is terrible but I was so excited that I had to take a picture with my iphone right away. This made my night for sure. I will try to get better pictures up soon. Are these even worth anything?

Edit: I just finished looking through the rest of the roll and found another one that is a 1981P. Nothing for $68 in nickels but 2 in the last $2 worth haha.

Without being able to see the coin very well, your guess is as good as mine.

Next time, more light, more coin, less area (in other words... crop the photo).

Make it look like this... then you might be able to get a better opinion.

But, is it an off center or a misaligned die? I can't see it very well to tell.

And Thanks for the compliment dbldie55.

If the reverse is centered, then what you have there is a misaligned obverse die. Probably not worth anything, but still cool to keep.

    Mis-alignment.

It does have some value, even if only a little.

I love searching nickel rolls! Probably the best, most affordable aspect of collecting.

BTW, save any really nice '82 and '83 nickels. As CladKing has taught us, nice examples are hard to come by. I scored a prooflike '83-D in a roll a while ago and it's one of the most prized nickels in my set!
