Ebay question - package in la-la land?

So I won two cards that a seller packaged together and at least printed the packing label on 11/13...so far clicking on the tracking number brings up nothing. I emailed the seller to see if he could look into it, but anyone run into this before?

I've seen this many times when you click on the tracking number it says something like post office has been notified electronically of shipping label (or something to that effect). I've had this happen when I print a shipping label at home and drop the package off at the post office and they DO NOT do an acceptance scan. If they do the acceptance scan, it will show "Accepted in city, ST." If they don't do that acceptance scan, it may not show an update to tracking until your postman actually delivers it and scans it as delivered. I don't know about the actual post office "official" policy, but I have one local post office who absolutely insists on scanning in everything when I drop it off, and another local office that couldn't care less and just wants me to drop the items off in a pile by the door.

Don't know if that's the exact scenario you mentioned, but maybe someone else has noticed that too.

Yeah - I know that when it gets scanned initially may vary, but it's been 3 weeks...unless it's sitting at the sellers house/office, I can't imagine what the problem is. Luckily it's nothing pricey or rare should the cards have went 'poof'.

That is exactly what happened Rodney. The Post Office has gotten really lax about scanning Click N Ship packages. There IS a chance he did a label and it is sitting on he floorboard of his card, or in his trunk behind his spare tire jack......but it could very well be in the postal mail stream just floating around out there....

USPS is wholesale cutting clerk hours to try to save money, and when the clerks tell the PMs that they actually need some hours to do the job the PMs have been cutting duties.

When I get back from my route I now have to sort the mail I bring back, instead of USPS having a clerk do it. I'm sure my 5 minutes of training time is adequate and I can do the job as well as a clerk with 20+ years experience can.

My wife is a clerk and actually does arrival scans on her lunch break so her customers will have their packages entered into the system.

Finally, I think we should scan all packages as arrived, to avoid a loophole. What's to stop me from printing postage, including insurance, and never shipping the package? USPS could never prove one way or the other if I ever shipped it!

Because I use the retail-counter services, ALL of my items
    are scanned on acceptance.

Costs a little more, but the buyer pays for it. And, I never
have to worry about my items getting into electronic limbo
    before they are delivered.

Yeah - my situation got me thinking about this. I have no reason to believe this seller did anything wrong, but if someone were to do just this, who is on the hook should the package never arrive? Paypal? USPS? The seller? Seems the buyer is the only one covered for sure.

Hoopguru - were they from Amquai on ebay? That's what I am missing.

The seller is on the hook if it is not insured, as long as the buyer used paypal.
The USPS is on the hook if it is insured.

I rarely get USPS scans on mail sent to the States from Canada (on services that are paid for this to happen), I usually get a end scan but no updates/scans until it is delivered (updates via usps.com and canadapost.com). Initially I thought maybe it isn't part of the deal (shipping global express etc..) but after speaking with Canada Post and USPS they both confirmed it should be happening, USPS said sometimes things slip by, well they have been for about 15 years now. As jim stated I think it's more of a efficiency decision than neglect.

  • im with storm.
i have a local post office right near my local coffee shop. I ship 2 days a week, no more, no less. I know all the clerks on a first name basis, i treat them right they keep an eye out for my stuff, they do a GREAT job and they told me that they are cutting hours and shifts, so everyone is working harder. I feel bad for them, because the folks bust their butt and go a darn good job and get no recognition for it. i much prefer to bring the packages in and get everything hand stamped. Makes me feel a bit more secure.

  • Same here. I received another order from amquai a while back, but it took quite a while to get to me. I don't know why my e-mails are not being answered.
