So I get this Ebay message with a question about my listing for a PF 70 2002 ASE Silver Eagle..

"What does ASE mean?"...

Ok....maybe a newbe so I explain

Then I check out his auction buys.....The last 5 are PF 70 ASE's!!

My guess is he is trying to play dumb. By asking this question he/she would figure out if your knowledgeable enough not to accept a ridiculous low ball offer (ie: selling a family members coins or coin inheritance) and he/she would come out on top with a profit.

On the other hand who knows. Thats just the scenario that popped in my head.

While his last five buys may have been silver eagles, did any of the auctions use that abbreviation in the title or body?

He might not be familiar with the abbreviation instead of the actual coin series. I don't think ASE is widely accepted.

I'm with SilverEagles92 on this one. I used ASE in conversation with a dealer at a coin show recently and received the quesition, "what's an ASE?"

ASE might be forum speak nes pa?

Ok......so I went and checked the wording in his PF Eagle purchases ....1st one checked: (my error...I said they were all PF 70)

"1993-P NGC PF69 PROOF AMERICAN SILVER EAGLE COIN

BROWN LABEL

NO SPOTS AND NO HAZE

NEAR PERFECT American Silver Eagle ( ASE )"

Edited to add: Don't you just think someone who is buying Proof Silver Eagles from the beginning of the series would know what an ASE was???? Maybe I just assume too much

I usually use the abbreviations A.S.E. or P.S.E. Never had any problem yet.
