2007-D Missing Edge Washington Dollar - Any Developments?

Despite news that most of the missing edge GW$ were from the Philly mint, I've read claims that some are from the Denver mint. I've seen comparison photos on the web, but at last check, I understand that the top tier grading companies are not designating the origin mint. Have there been any new developments in this regard?

Breaking News.... It's been confirmed by a high ranking Mint source... that on all 2007-D Missing Edge Washington Dollars...the lettering is indeed still missing.

Stay tuned for further updates as they become available.

It's the edge that's missing, not the lettering.

The lettering is circling around where the edge is supposed to be, looking for a place to land. image

Personally, I value Fred's opinion but the fact of the matter remains that regardless of the mint of origin, the coins do not have mintmarks and as such, I seriously doubt that any of the top TPG's will begin slabbing non-mintmarked coins as originating from either the Denver or Philadelphia mint.

The value of the coin is the fact that it is missing that edge lettering and not so much which mint produced the error.

As always, just my 2 cents:

The MEL Wash Dollar has been in a downward spiral for so long now that anything to possible "shake" things up might be a welcome sight for those with large positions of these coins. But, PCGS has been aware of the "Denver" thing fo a couple years now and I have always been told they have -0- interest in making any kind of distinction on the coins. Don't hold your breathe for it to happen, although the pathetic current market on these coins might get folks reconsidering what might be done to "ignite" some interest in the coins again. For now, the coins remain on their "deathbed".
