I would like to take this opportunity to thank the eBay T&S drones.

They cancelled six of my auctions after they closed. All of my bidders followed though and paid up, and eBay refunded all the fees. About $100 worth.

<< <i>Why did they cancel them? Just curious...Mike >>
Because the morons mistakenly believe that the Hobby Protection Act applies to contemporary counterfeit Bust half dollars, and they are supposed to be engraved with the word "replica".

Funny, I had a long chat about that with my account rep. a few months ago...
they should have turned you in to the SS (secret service)
and how did you get them listed? when I post a listing they ask if I am sure it is genuine
(I guess that could mean a genuine counterfeit)
Funny how these get bammed but thousands of Chinese counterfeit sh!t coins get listed & sold unencumbered.

Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!
Here's the eBay policy:
Replica coins
* Any "reproduction," "replica," or "copy" coin (U.S. or foreign) must be plainly and permanently marked with the word "COPY" under U.S. law (Hobby Protection Law).
*The listing must include a photo of the coin with the appropriate markings. Images that are dark, out of focus, edited, or otherwise deemed misleading are not permitted. Stock photos are also not permitted.
*In addition to including appropriate photos, replica coin listings must clearly state that the coin is a "reproduction," "replica," or "copy" in both the title and description.
The problem is that the Hobby Protection Act was not retroactive. Any counterfeit made after the Act was passed requires a mark noting its status as not authentic, but those made prior to the Act's start date were not required to be stamped after the Act was put into effect. eBay misinterprets this by saying all non-genuine pieces must be marked as copies, citing the Act.
The problem here is that eBay thus wrongly excludes the market for early counterfeits which are often collected not to be deceiving, but because they have significant collector value as pieces that circulated amongst their genuine counterparts.

I saved $75 in fees when I sold my UHR. Ebay cancelled the auction after the buyer hit the BIN, becuase the buyer (a well-known dealer) was in Cabo when he bid, so I guess the IP address set off the Ebay drone radar!

I had that conversation with mine two days ago. I made some helpful suggestions that I'm sure eBay will listen to.

Yep, and it's a very hot market. All these pieces brought more than the genuine coins in similar condition, and in some cases WAY more.

They probably spent 5k in drone man hours to cancel your auctions and did high fives all afternoon..yelling...yeah we showed him..alright...
Except that by the letter of this law, only items created AFTER this law was enacted are subject to these conditions. And it is NOT UNLAWFUL to sell a counterfeit item created before the enactment of this law, so long as it is not misrepresented. Dumbass drones.
