my only CC coin

Got this one a few years back for $350 raw if I remember right. Evidently nobody saw the little cc on the reverse. Now in a PCGS 62 holder. Nice original color with toning when tilted in the light.

<< <i>Here's some pics tilted in the light to show the toning ring. Dipped gold coins don't have this. I look for this on gold coins.
Nice one.
I disagree somewhat about the so-called "toning ring". It is not toning. It is where the surface of the coin has a rougher texture due to enhanced flow lines. Light "dipping" will change the overall color of the coin, but it will NOT remove that ring around the rim. Most types of polishing or abrasive cleaning will definitely diminish or remove the "toning ring", but dipping alone will not.
It is getting harder and harder to find original surface gold, especially New Orleans mint. I finally found an original surface "O" mint eagle today that I like.
I highly suspect mine (and yours) came from the European bank hoards, where they were allowed to sit for many years in bank vaults without tampering.
probably the advantage of scouring eBay bid pics
(as well as risky)
