Olsen 1913 Nickel FUN show 2010

What do you think the coin brings at auction?
I haven't a clue, but I know a few board members are probably good estimators of its final hammer.
edited the spelling of Nickel for some picky people,

If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

Probably 3 Million +, but I have no true idea. It might be the beginning of a great FUN

This would not surprise me.

<< <i>I thoroughly enjoyed my 18 month ownership of this coin earlier in the decade and I'd love to buy it back ... with that said I think it's going to go for a bit more than I'm willing to pay. My guess is $3.1M hammer >>
Just curious, why did you only keep it for 18 months?

I sold it in order to continue with the seated dollar set.

I think that's great!
The actual owners are listed on the left, if a company held it while selling it to someone else, they are listed under notes to the right.
Birth and death dates of the owners are listed when known.
Please let me know if you can add to this at all,
Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

<< <i>In both instances [Eliasberg and Olsen], the coin was owned by Bruce Morelan personally - not by the company. >>
Congrats, Bruce.

Can anyone confirm this?

<< <i>ok so, instead of "Legend Numismatics" I should have "Bruse Morelan (Legend Numismatics)"?
Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks... >>
You can state Bruce Morelan & Legend Numismatics in both instances. That's fine.
Two days later she sits me down and we watch it together. Yeah, it was as bad as you'd imagine. But pretty cool she rented it and surprised me.
Lance.
P.S. Todd, you should really fix the spelling of this thread's title.
The magazine does not list all the owners and says some wish not to be mentioned - why? Because we do know some that were not mentioned in the Pedigree.

Tradedollarnut IS Bruce Morelan. Legend Numismatics, the company, is a partnership including Bruce & Laura. It is my understanding, (and Bruce can correct me if I am wrong) that Bruce paid for and was the OWNER of these coins. If your intent was to list the true owner in the first column then Bruce should be listed. In these high profile coin situations the true owner in many cases does not want to be identified because of tax or security reasons. I admire people like Bruce and Dwight Manley, recent owners who allowed their true ownership to be public. We all know where the Walton, Norweb and McDermott Specimens are now. But we really don't know who currently owns the Ellasberg and Olsen specimens. Maybe the new owner at FUN will let the hobby know who the Olsen specimen belongs to.

<< <i>Its got CAC!
I heard it was a real close call. I heard the CAC people at first viewed it as sort of a low-end PF64 and balked, but then, after careful consideration and super-close viewing, decided it was worthy of their green bean.
What a joke.

There's at least one ultra rarity that I know wouldn't CAC and for a good reason. As someone who has in the past spent millions of dollars on these types of coins - in fact, this very coin - I can tell you that it does indeed matter and is not a joke.
