Looks like the depth of quality coins offered at Heritage's FUN sale is down considerably...

Yes I know about the 1913 nickel and the 1927-D $20. And yes the Syrup of Saints. But I've been perusing the 4000+ coins listed on Heritage's preview section and while there are usually at least 20 high-end type coins that would with my collection goals this year there are 1 or 2 so far. I was thinking maybe Heritage was saving their best coins to list last. But tonight Heritage emailed me this notice that they are extending their consignment deadline:

<< <i>
We are accepting last-minute consignments that can be in our offices by next Tuesday Dec. 1st. Please call today to arrange to have your coins included in this historic auction. >>

I think many sellers of good stuff still know the environment is extremely uncertain.

My apologies, you must have stumbled across the Rejects of RYK™. image

I agree with your assessment. Looks like nothing to buy with the proceeds.

Maybe Stacks and/or Bowers and Merena will pick up the slack...

There's a very good chance I will be broke before the auction starts and have a satchel of cash after the auctions/show end!

    Timing is everything!

I still say its too early. I recall last year watching MPL's and they loaded up about two weeks before the auction.

Odd. It's not on their schedule, but they do have a Coin World ad for it.

I also noticed this. There is not one item I am even remotely interested in. At least anything I can afford anyway.
  • Looks like we can all start talking about the bifurcated market thing again , Lots of very high end stuff and lots of very low end stuff. Nothing for me , My watch list is really just an interest list to see how "The Saint " fairs , and I think he will fair very well in this market.
    Buy the dips!!!

It's not just Heritage, and it's not just the United States. Auctions all over the world have been short for material for quite some time.
