I can't completly agree with the report..

What I see from the common person's view is there is no or long waiting for atable at the olive garden resturant or TGI fridays.

Customers are not sure they will employed next year.

The exception is Westinghouse Elcet. is doing OK and hiring.

    The economey is sick

The trickle down (Gov. approch) didn't work the money was had in the way of BIG bounuses at the top

A resident of Rumson paid a visit to Auburn Hills, MI (just a bit north of Detroit) last week. He greeted the fans several times with mentions of Ohio.

He didn't even know what state he was in.

The article appears to limit itself to very up scale area

mainly composed of the financial type high earners. So

it would appear that both views may well be correct.

The folks in Detroit should take the association with Ohio as a compliment.

Had a guy from Michigan in the shop the other day to rent an electric concrete breaker. We got to talking about various things the snowbirds usually talk about this time of the year like the weather here and where ever they come from, and lately the conversation always shifts to either the economy or Obama's vision of health care in the USA. He was telling me that the median value of homes in Detroit being $7,500 currently. I asked him are you sure, don't you mean like 75K or so, he says no, $7,500. When I got home I checked:

    Detroit median home values

Pretty sad stuff. Here in FLA the economy still sux for many, the unemployment rate in this rural area of Florida where I live is around 15%. Many of the contractors we used to see no longer come in. Jersey I think is a bit different, still having the highest per capita income in the country, so I can understand that things might be moving there, I've not been there in over 5 years.

In spite of all this, I've no doubt that the auctions for January FUN will do quite well, in spite of the economy. (And not all the buyers will be from Jersey)

I live just south of Auburn Hills Michigan when I'm in the States. Trust me, we don't take in as a compliment. Not even remotely.

Yes, the city of Detroit is in turmoil and housing their is a disaster. However, the balance of the state is one the the most beautiful in the nation. Take the time to check it out.........

my wife had a meeting on our new healthcare for next year, the monthly premiums are going to be either 925 a month with 5k deducts for the 3 of us or 1425 with 5k deducts. Yeah things are looking better daily. LOL That is almost a 40 percent jump from last year. I am going to add a monthly healthcare surcharge to all my renters. I have 50 rent properties and for the first time in years i have some empty ones.

Today I learned that Gem common date Walkers and Silver dollars are no longer widgets, that Legend IS the US pattern market, and that gold is HOT....even though it was dead and a joke 2 months ago.

And I still have to wait in line for up to 30-45 min or more at my local Olive Garden. That has never changed since it was built over 5 yrs ago.
