I agree with RYK, the OP was a tad too hard on the customer. At least he admitted he (the customer) was wrong when the difference was explained to him.

Other than take the time to go to the website he was using and figure out the problem and explain it to him, exactly how was I a tad too hard on the customer????

Actually, I never intended to opine that the OP was "too hard on the customer". Only that I found it unprofessional for coin dealers to publicly ridicule customers just because the dealers have substantially more knowledge about coins and the coin market than the average Joe.
I guess if I visited a plumbing forum, I might find my plumber trashing me me for my lack of knowledge on the ins and outs of sump pumps, and on a gutter forum, I might be bashed for the poor layout of my gutters or lack of timely cleanings.
I have been to several MD only sites, and I have never seen a doc ridiculing a patient, and believe me, there would be quite a bit of material out there if physicians wanted to do so.
I never drank when I was a dealer but I sure did put down a lot of chili dogs and what ever the fast food of the day was. I spent about two hours with a big mustard swipe on my face that everyone was too timid or having too much fun to mention to me. Maybe drinking would have been less of a mess.....
