Halogen lighting from ordinary desklamps (review)

Not long ago someone asked if anyone ever tried these new halogen bulbs. I promised to buy some and give them a try. I bought them online through a simple Google search. Not sure if you can get them at a place like The Home Depot. Probably.

I like them. I must have tried everything over the last few years but keep coming back to halogen for its pure, natural color and brightness. These bulbs let you use halogen in simple lamps. I have a couple of cheap gooseneck lamps in addition to an architect's-like desklamp. I don't have a copy stand, just a mini tripod on a desk. I'm a hack but I get by.

I picked up this WLH today at the show, PCGS MS65, and shot it with these bulbs. The pictures are very correct.

Cool I was just trying to photo a few coins and as always frustrated. I'm going to try those as well the photo's look great!

I asked about these and The Home Depot does sell a twin pack of 40W for $6.99

Yes, halogen bulbs are very hot! Stay away from drapes. And don't touch!

I like them best for copper. Bright white coins, less so.

Last photos, I promise. Here's a very bright, heavy luster Peace dollar. Normally a single halogen bulb gives me a yellowish hue. I tried two of these bulbs. Not bad. I did only a small white balance adjustment because they were pretty close.
