I've always had the best luck at the Central States Show.

And can we put in the Labor Day Show in Dublin, Ohio? (The Central Ohio Coin Club's show... free plug! image)
Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

It depends upon your collecting pursuits. For some collectors, small local shows serve their interests perfectly well, and in fact, are more comfortable. For others, the larger shows are preferred.

If you're speaking of the big shows, I'd go with (in calendar order):

    FUN
    Spring Baltimore
    Central States
    Summer ANA
    Fall Baltimore

After that, I'd probably add the Long Beach shows.

    Edited to add:

One additional consideration might be whether the show is accompanied by a major auction. Viewing auction lots, especially with a friend and/or mentor, can be a great way to see (and perhaps learn about) a lot of good coins.

In addition to good coins, is it also possible to see fine, very fine, and uncirculated coins too? image

  • I would say:

    January FUN
    Central States
    September Long Beach
    November Baltimore
    Houston Money show
ANA-Maybe............LA was horrible but that was probably the economy there it needs to come back to the midwest

I would try to steer clear of summer shows as alot of collectors have other things to do, only the hardcore collectors are out

The annual convention of the Colonial Coin Collectors Club (C4) - usually held in conjunction with the Bay State Show in Boston and actually going on this weekend - is a must for colonial coin collectors.

Then again, I collect colonial coins and, unfortunately, I'm not there. image
