    Looks like mechanical doubling in the letters, numbers and pony tail to me, but it is kind of hard to tell. I do like the die gouge though in the top pics.

    Looks like a die gouge to me.

    I don't see any refurbishing in the field and if it had been a clash then more of the Monticello would have been in the fields. There is some light abrading but not the kind that would be required to remove a heavy hit.

    usually die clashes are more muted

    it looks like helf doubling on the hsir sbove the line

    rest of coin looks fine? isn't any flipover or double struck going on is there?
