My B&M visit

I visited my local store/ friend today to shoot the bull. He just returned from a very non productive
hunting trip, to warm up on the Maine boarder.

He told me about a recent submission he got back from PCGS. Every coin was returned in a genuine holder.
Now this man can grade pretty well from my knowledge of him. He was a grader at one point in his career.
He was very surprised and a little anoyed at how the whole thing unfolded. I was more amazed with the coins that were in the submission, which all belonged to an old timer who has frequented his store for many years. This is a list of what I remember of his coins

2- 1909-s vbd looked gem unc red to me.
1- 1916-D mercury dime XF
1- 1937-D buffalo three legger looked Gem unc to me
3- 1955 double date 2 unc red and 1 au br looked cleaned
3- 1909-S all loooked like RD UNC gems

Two came back cleaned 55d/d and 37-D buf
all the rest were deamed to be something wrong with the color.

One man with all these key dates, and when I mentioned this to the owner , he told me this is only a small part of his amazing collection

His amazing collection must be stored in such a way to give them some vivid color...is that what PCGS was seeing? Or the old guy is futzing with his coins....

I should add that on the coins that had qustionable color, I could not see it. Neither could the owner.

I had a guy come into my shop to sell me all his Lincolns. As soon as I saw them I asked him if he'd cleaned them. He proudly responded with : "Yes, arent' they beautiful ? "

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
