Assuming it wasn't "genuined" for color, or environmental damage (pitting on the left obverse?) I would grade it 66RB. PCGS is conservative on color and probably gave it a BN rating. Lance.
Well, it does look like it has a very well defined strike.
On a tangent: A thought came to me. We have so many Guess The Grade threads. How about building a TPG on the basis of those threads? The Balanced User Grading Service. BUGS. Submit a coin. Here are a couple of 1913 MPL's for comparison. Both are BN. The first is PF65 and the second is PF66. The ear and beard in Chris's 1913 both lack enough detail, IMHO to be graded higher than the 63-64 range. Regardless of grade it is a dynamite Lincoln.
I couldn't agree with you more. I was honestly waiting for you to pop into the thread and give me your thoughts. I thought the coin was a lock 63, shot 64. The coin currently resides in a PCGS PR62RB holder, I can't for the life of me understand why the coin is only in a 62 holder.
Edit, on another note these mpl lincolns are EXTREMLY hard to find problem free and when you do find them the price guides go right out the window. I only found a couple at baltimore that I liked enough to take a closer look at although I ran out of time. Charmy owns both MPL lincolns I would like to get a chance to look at closer.
Bob that green MPL lincoln of yours is a stunner and I have never seen one that even compares.

Now reading the thread, neither can I.
I wonder what PCGS saw that we didn't -- perhaps a small rim dent not visible in the slab?

Although I got into this thread late, I was guessing a proof early on. Learning on this forum, the rims are squarely cut which is an indication of proof Lincolns. Now I expect other experts to tell me that this inidcation is all wrong, (just let me be a little precocious).

Mike, This is kinda why I posted the coin here. I just cant see why its a PR62-- I thought very minimum a 63. I will send it over to them again and see if it will come back at least a three.
Although not wholly evident in the image, I'll bet the coin just shines. You can see it around the rims and Lincoln's bust, but it's so hard to capture on the whole coin. I don't know what they are looking for, but looks minimum 63 to me.
For the record, I knew it was a PF before your hint. The '13 has distinguishing die polish lines swirling around the E & T on the reverse. Having said that, this has to be the nicest 62 I've ever seen. Even with the hits/nicks on the obverse, it's a 63 at worst. Nice pickup. Also, welcome to the world of mattes. You have come to quickly realize nice examples are scarce and command premiums
