This Proof Seated Dollar looks like it has deep scratches but I guess they are only toning.

Would this not be best conserved if nothing else than to not make it look so fugly.

That type of dusty, matte toning of proofs is usually etched into the surface. That coin shouldn't be numerically graded, IMO.

With those scratches in the right field, it wouldn't get into a holder again. I'm surprised it did in the first place.

I completely agree, I had to do a double take when the insert did not say "Genuine".

Conservation would do nothing for it. I'm surprised it was graded.

it was already conserved almost to death. coin has been worked over I think.
