    Oh yes, I agree most sets have coins switched out but just so I was not misunderstood in my previous post I want to stress I am talking about fake sets with reproduction envelopes,cover papers and cardboard holders and At'ed coins. image

    I would disagree with this statement. And I guess it really depends on your source, but all the mint sets I have purchased have been 100% original, and I bought them all from the same source.

    I have seen many molested mint sets, especially for sale on ebay. But I think most of the sets I see look original.

    Those sets that were in the fire are not fake. They are real but damaged. These coins have odd toning from the fire.

    Too many coins from one or two ebay sellers with the exact same style toning that were blatantly obvious AT jobs. Do the initials RPH ring any bells?

    Obviously if you fork with enuff coins, you will get lucky enuff on a couple to get past the TPG's. Even CAC bought into this 53.

    Of course, I could be wrong, just my opinion.

    ahhhhhhhhhh,
    now I see the light Bushmaster .

    Take those 1954 Quarters ( and some '54 dimes too) that had been showing up all over the place - they have real stunning blue tone on obverse only - i must have seen twenty of them , a half dozen or so in PCGS holders ........now I see them turning up on eBay/Teletrade in GENUINE holders .

    Sure took PCGS a good long while to catch on ......whomever toned them is real, real good

    ....let me say this with little or no agreement from others :

    if someone is going to A.T a coin for monetary gain - they sure as hell are not going to start out with a coin
    that has a large gash in the prime focal area near the center of the coin on the obverse !

    I repeat :
