Think the image problem is in your hosting site, or you URL addie. I clicked on "properties" to get your URL addie and tried to post it here with image tags, red X is the result. Either the URL addie is off or your site is messed up.
I think it is the way you hosted them. The 1st two URLs are you 48 Bowmans which are fine. The 2nd two are the red x's. Notice the difference?
Have to have them as a jpg image like the Bowmans.
Thanks for the help. That solved the problem which was the primary objective. I don't understand what is different now versus earlier in the week. No matter for now. I've got the answer which gets me moving again.

URL's are different now. That's why my post still has the red X. Think that you grabbed the wrong link the first, failed time. Glad I could be of service.
Day 17 and I missed a real deal on this one. Hopefully Felicia picked it up if she needed it. $204 for a PSA 7 1952 Topps High Number is far, far below market price.
20 days in now and the end is near. At least the initial 30 day objective is approaching. I've spent countless hours scanning cards the past two weeks and have noticed two things I didn't realize before. I have basically no focus to my collection. I also don't finish things. These are directly related issues. If I was more focused I would probably finish and if I insisted on finishing sets I would by necessity stay more focused. During my scanning project I have focused on the smaller sets, leaving the larger sets for last. This allows me to get the most variety of cards out of their boxes and their scans onto the registry. The problem is I have finished very few of these sets. Of the 27 "sets" I have scanned so far, only 4 are complete and 3 of those I continue to look for upgrades. Around 11%. Not good. I do have 5 more sets to scan. These are "big" sets of over 100 cards. I have finished one of those. So, I am basically working on 32 sets and have finished 5. Some of these 28 "in process" sets are not active but even still, that is a lot of cards on my wantlist which leads to these buying sprees.
I am very proud of the sets I have finished: 1953 Topps PSA 7 1948 Bowman PSA 5+ 1941 Play Ball PSA 5+ 1941 Goudey Basic 2001 Sweet Spot Bat Insert.
The problem is the sets I am close on but can not wrap up: 1961 Fleer Basketball PSA 7, need 2 1954 Topps Hockey PSA 7, need 9 1951 Topps Team Master, need 1 1977 Topps Dodgers Team PSA 9+, need 3 1941 Goudey Master, need 4 1954 Topps Baseball PSA 7, need 8 1933 DeLong, PSA 4, need 11 1935 National Chicle, PSA 5, need 15 1951 Topps Connie Mack All-Stars, need 2 1914 T222 Fatima's, need 15 Super Bowl Full Ticket, basic set, need 14 Steve Yeager Master Set, need approx 15
Then there are the sets I'm actively working on but am not close on 1952 Topps PSA 7, need 91 1967 Philadelphia football, PSA 8+, need 48 T206, PSA 2+, need 434 1934 Goudey, PSA 5+, need 90 1933 Goudey, PSA 5+, need 236 Steve Garvey Master Set, need approx 180
And then there are the sets that I started but have not done anything in a while. T207 1951 Topps ML All Stars T201 T202 1948 Leaf 1960 Leaf 1940 Play Ball 1976 Topps Dodgers
I also find myself spending time right now looking at new sets to start. The latest "must have" set is the PSA Vintage Sampler Set. Many of the boxes I can check right now by getting my existing cards into the set. But, there is a lot of inexpensive cards I could pick up to get pretty far with this set. But looking ahead, this is going to be a tough set to complete because of all the N, E cards in the early slots. Resisting temptation to get started, knowing I won't be able to finish soon, is difficult.
I have also persuaded Joe and BJ to start a T-Type Baseball Card Sampler set. It was surprisingly difficult to do but they finally obliged. That set is one I feel obligated to go deeper on so in 18 months or however long it takes them to get the set added, I will start down that path knowing in advance that some of those cards just are not available to me.
The problem is the cards I want are just not out there. I think that is one of the attractions of the T206 set to me. The basic 520 card set can be done. Condition issues aside, all the cards are available on ebay or other vintage sites. It's just a matter of "collecting" them. That is what I do after all is collect. However, cards from some of the sets I am pursuing, like the 1941 Goudey set, are just not available. Not in any condition or from any source. I don't particularly mind not having this set done but it would be nice to close the door on some of the other sets. That would make the decision to start another set less of a burden.
So, my thoughts right now are that I should pick one of the "close" sets and drive it to completion. That may mean buying cards that are off-grade or changing my approach and buying raw and submitting myself, or in some cases cracking out of non-PSA holders and re-submitting. I have not had great success in doing this so I may end up spending more money in the long run but I will have a better chance of finishing than I have had so far. The obvious first choice is the 1961 Fleer Basketball. With only 2 cards to go the issue is Card #1, Al Attles. The Chamberlain comes up enough but the price is daunting. By focusing, saving up the cash and not spending it on other cards I should be able to pick that one off this year. Attles is going to tough though. Still, I'd like to be done with it and move on to 1954 Hockey or something like that.
This is where I am at as I ponder how to get back into the pool in 10 days or so. In the meantime I continue to scan and the link below will take you to my 1941 Play Ball set. 5 sets left to scan but they are monsters so it will take many days per set.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
The World Series has been nice background noise while I continue scanning like a madman. If LA were in it I would be rivited to the tube. As it is I can scan cards and look up every couple minutes to confirm what I have been hearing. McCarver sure is a doofus though. When I listen to him it's no big deal. When I watch and listen to him I wonder what game he is watching. Hard to believe this guy used to be a pro ballplayer considering how little he appears to know about the game.
Scanning highlights from the past few days are my 1941 Play Ball set and my 1941 Goudey Master set. Flickr changed how I can grab the link to post pictures so it got a lot harder to get images up. I'll get some up though from both sets. The 1941 Goudey set is widely considered to be an ugly set. I probably look at the cards like a mother looks at her child but I think they are quite attractive. Yes I wish there were some more stars in the set. Yes the quality control was horrific. Yes the quality of the cards that you generally find tends to be horrible. But, if you get good cards the colors are rather striking. They don't compare to the 1941 Play Ball set which is a work of art. But they kick the crap out of the 1941 Double Play cards in my opinion for aesthetics. Star power though doesn't help.
Take a look at a few highlights and then scan through my master set. These are some good looking cards.
As for my hobby habits, I made a couple of sales which brought some cash in. I won't go out and spend that money though until after my sabatical is over. There have been some significant deals lately that I have missed out on. Some of these cards sold for hundreds below what I expect I will eventually pay. Others closed without getting bids when I would have put in bids significantly over the opening bid. Hopefully they will come back up with lower starting prices and nobody continues to bid on these cards next week.

Time for another contest. I've got another T206 "extra" which will go to the person who can correctly answer the most questions below. I've also got some interesting cards which don't fit into any of my current needs so I'll throw those in as well. This one will not be as easy as the first contest but all the answers can be found given enough effort. Do not post your answers on this board, that would defeat the purpose. PM me your answers and I'll confirm that I have received them. All answers must be submitted before the last out of the World Series is recorded. That should give you at least a few days to cipher this out depending on how quickly one of the teams can beat the other.
I hope you enjoy this.
T206 Contest #2.
Questions about The Monster:
1. A number of people appear on multiple cards in the 524 card base set. Which individual has the most unique poses in the T206 set?
2. The T206 set is loaded with members of the Hall of Fame. There are also a large number of minor league players included in the set. But there are 4 Hall of Fame players who are featured on Minor League Teams. Name those four Hall member who show up with Minor League Teams?.
3. The following are the career statistics for four players found in the T206 set. Three of the players are in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The fourth is not. Which of the four players is not in the Hall, who are the four players and what connects them (other than all being in the set)?

4. T206, 1933 Goudey and 1952 Topps are considered Baseball’s “Big 3” sets when it comes to collecting. A number of players appear in more than one of the Big 3 sets but nobody appears in all three. Can you name the five players that appear in the T206 set and one of the other Big 3 sets?
5. Some of the most striking cards in the T206 sets are the Portrait poses. A number of Hall of Fame players appear on multiple cards including both action shots and posed shots. Only one Hall of Fame player appears on multiple cards but does not have a Portrait card. Who is this Hall of Famer that would not pose?
6. Of the numerous Hall of Fame players in the set, only one appears on cards for two different teams. Name him.
7. Some collectors choose to collect T206 team sets rather than attempt to put together the entire 524 card set. All 16 Major League teams are represented in the T206 set. Which team has the largest number of cards required to complete a team set? Which team has the smallest number of card required to complete a Major League team set?
8. Three team sets feature four unique Hall of Famers in their checklists. You would think with that amount of talent they all would have been pretty good teams. However, one of the three teams failed to make the post season in any of the three years the set was issued (1909-1911). Name the team that has four Hall Members in its team checklist but failed to make the playoffs.
9. A printer’s uncut strip was found which includes a T206 Honus Wagner. Name the four other players who just happen to be on this famous “Wagner” strip.
10. Of the 524 cards in the set, only 2 are not available with a Piedmont back. What are those two cards?
11. Many of us know the story of Ray Chapman and how he died after being struck by a pitched ball in a game in 1920. Not as many know the tragic story of this T206 subject. Which player featured on a T206 card died as a result of injuries suffered on the field?
12. There are a number of cards which feature a Horizontal painting rather than the much more common Vertical orientation. Depending on your interpretation of the images there are either 6 or 7 of these horizontal cards. Jack Dunn’s image is the 7th and is interesting in that it may be a horizontal or a vertical image. It depends on your point of view. The other 6 are unquestionable. Name the six players with horizontal T206 cards.
13. T206 cards are available with multiple backs matching the brand of cigarettes the cards were to be inserted in. In all respects the rest of the card remains the same. Except with one brand. What brand packed “custom” T206 cards with their cigarettes, what is unique about cards with this back?
14. The artwork on the T206 set is not unique. One other T-era set uses the same artwork for the front of the card but has a different back advertisement. This situation is similar to the various backs that are classified as T206’s. Yet Jefferson Burdick chose to separate out this back and classify it as a unique set with a unique ACC designation. What other T-set features the same front artwork as the T206 set but with different backs?
15. There are dozens of unique backs on T206 cards. Variations include the brand being advertised, the series of the card, the factory of issue and even the ink color. Being very specific, what is the most common T206 back.
About me, my run through the set and other things:
16. In my seemingly random purchases I somehow managed to complete one team set. I was hoping to put together a Brooklyn set but am not there yet. Which team set have I finished?
17. In addition to vintage base ball cards I also have a love for the vintage version of the sport and play on a local vintage base ball team. This past summer I was fortunate enough to get a chance to bat against a former major league pitcher. Who was that pitcher and what was the result?
18. What number do I wear when playing on my vintage team?
19. Prior to starting The Monster I finally finished up another sizable set which I had been working on for several years. What set did I complete just prior to my headlong dive into The Monster? What card wrapped up that set?
20. In my initial post I mentioned all of the brands that T206 cards can be found with except for one brand that I accidently omitted. Which brand slipped my mind?
Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie, the closest to answering this question takes the prize. By now you may know that I ran a marathon in just under 6 hours, 20 minutes. Not exactly world record pace but I did finish. On November 7th I will be running a 5k. What will be my finishing time? Good luck googling this one in time unless the World Series gets rained out for about a week.
Disclaimer: I made these questions up. I may have screwed up. If I screw up I'll own up to it and figure out a work-around. I decide who wins. I make the rules. My decision is final unless I chose to change my mind. It's supposed to be fun, keep it that way.

China bans physical punishment for Internet addicts
Thu Nov 5, 2009 11:56am IST
BEIJING (Reuters) - China's Ministry of Health has banned the use of physical punishment to wean teens off the net, months after a boy was beaten to death at an Internet boot camp.
Chinese parents have turned to more than 200 organisations offering treatment for Internet "disorders" as the government increasingly warns of unhealthy Internet habits among the young.
Many of the camps are imbued with a military atmosphere. Patients are forced to replace hours in front of the computer with arduous physical drills or even more extreme "treatments".
"When intervening to prevent improper use of the Internet, we should ... strictly prohibit restriction of personal freedom and physical punishments," the ministry said in a draft guideline for Internet use by minors, posted on its website (www.moh.gov.cn).
It appeared to have dropped the term "Internet addiction", widely used in earlier ministry documents, perhaps in a bid to calm worried parents who fuelled a mushrooming business of harsh camps to prevent teens from spending hours online.
The death of 15-year-old Deng Senshan, just hours after he checked into an Internet bootcamp in the southwestern Guangxi region in early August, caused a media storm in China.
Days later another teenager, Pu Liang, was taken to hospital with water in the lungs and kidney failure after a similar attack in Sichuan Province.
The government in July had already banned electro-shock therapy as a treatment for Internet addiction, after media reports about a controversial psychiatrist who administered electric currents to nearly 3,000 teenagers.
The latest guidelines suggest officials in Beijing do not think that those with unhealthy Internet habits should be forced offline permanently.
"The goal of intervention is ... to urge the target people to use the Internet in a healthy way," the guideline said. "It's not to stop them from using the Internet."

Sounds like it's safe for me to go to China again.
Today is day 29. Almost there. The contest ended with a ground ball to 2nd and I am in the process of reviewing the entries. There is some realy top notch work here. I'll post the winner (s) along with the answers in a series of posts beginning shortly.

These four men are the Chicago Cubs infield of Tinker, Evers, Chance and Steinfeldt. Steinfeldt is player A. Statistically he compares with Tinker (B) and Evers (C). Chance (D) had by far the better statistics. But Harry Steinfeldt may be the victim of pop culture. Had he had a more pleasing last name and had made the famous poem he may also be enshrined in Cooperstown.

So I like showing the cards to go with the questions but it's just too time consuming. So, here are the answers in abbreviated form. I may eventually add photos but not now. For those who care, here are the answers:
Questions about The Monster:
1. A number of people appear on multiple cards in the 524 card base set. Which individual has the most unique poses in the T206 set?
Hal Chase - 5 Poses
2. The T206 set is loaded with members of the Hall of Fame. There are also a large number of minor league players included in the set. But there are 4 Hall of Fame players who are featured on Minor League Teams. Name those four Hall member who show up with Minor League Teams?.
Joe Kelley, Jimmy Collins, Jake Beckley, Joe "Iron Man" McGinnity
3. The following are the career statistics for four players found in the T206 set. Three of the players are in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The fourth is not. Which of the four players is not in the Hall, who are the four players and what connects them (other than all being in the set)?

A - Harry Steinfeld B, C, D - Tinkers to Evers to Chance. This is the starting Cubs infield. Steinfeldt is the only one of the three not in Cooperstown.
Eddie Collins, Jack Quinn, Tris Speaker, Nap Lajoie. The 5th on my list is George Davis but I've probably got two different George Davis's here. So, the four above are a complete list.
Sam Crawford
6. Of the numerous Hall of Fame players in the set, only one appears on cards for two different teams. Name him.
Vic Willis
7. Some collectors choose to collect T206 team sets rather than attempt to put together the entire 524 card set. All 16 Major League teams are represented in the T206 set. Which team has the largest number of cards required to complete a team set? Which team has the smallest number of card required to complete a Major League team set?
New York Giants have the most cards (53). Boston Red Sox have the fewest (13)
Cleveland
9. A printer’s uncut strip was found which includes a T206 Honus Wagner. Name the four other players who just happen to be on this famous “Wagner” strip.
Mordecai Brown, Cy Young, Johnny King, Frank Bowerman
10. Of the 524 cards in the set, only 2 are not available with a Piedmont back. What are those two cards?
Demmitt (St. Louis) and O'hara (St. Louis) are only available with a Polar Bear back
11. Many of us know the story of Ray Chapman and how he died after being struck by a pitched ball in a game in 1920. Not as many know the tragic story of this T206 subject. Which player featured on a T206 card died as a result of injuries suffered on the field?
Mike "Doc" Powers
Barney Pelty, Joe Birmingham, George Mullin, Danny Murphy, Harry Pattee, Jack Powell
13. T206 cards are available with multiple backs matching the brand of cigarettes the cards were to be inserted in. In all respects the rest of the card remains the same. Except with one brand. What brand packed “custom” T206 cards with their cigarettes, what is unique about cards with this back?
American Beauty cards are narrower than other brand T206's. The theory I've heard is the cigarettes were narrower which prevented a standard size T206 from fitting in the smaller package. So, they cut them narrower.
T-213 Coupon backs use the same artwork and perhaps should be considered another back of a T206 set.
15. There are dozens of unique backs on T206 cards. Variations include the brand being advertised, the series of the card, the factory of issue and even the ink color. Being very specific, what is the most common T206 back.
Piedmont, Series 350, Factory 25. Most of my cards have this back as well.
About me, my run through the set and other things:
16. In my seemingly random purchases I somehow managed to complete one team set. I was hoping to put together a Brooklyn set but am not there yet. Which team set have I finished?
Foley White is the only member of the Houston team. I got him and that wrapped up that "team" set.
17. In addition to vintage base ball cards I also have a love for the vintage version of the sport and play on a local vintage base ball team. This past summer I was fortunate enough to get a chance to bat against a former major league pitcher. Who was that pitcher and what was the result?
I took a Jim Bouton knuckleball and lined it to left field for a clean single.
18. What number do I wear when playing on my vintage team?
My favorite question. No numbers in the 1880s so no number on my uniform.
19. Prior to starting The Monster I finally finished up another sizable set which I had been working on for several years. What set did I complete just prior to my headlong dive into The Monster? What card wrapped up that set?
The answer I was looking for was 1953 Topps Jackie Robinson. I needed this card in PSA 7 to complete my PSA 7 set. Technically I already had a lower grade Robinson so the 1953 Dick Groat really completed the set but I picked that up months before I dove into the monster. Jackie is the right answer but I'll put a star by it.
20. In my initial post I mentioned all of the brands that T206 cards can be found with except for one brand that I accidently omitted. Which brand slipped my mind?
Carolina Brights slipped my mind.
Tie Breaker: In the event of a tie, the closest to answering this question takes the prize. By now you may know that I ran a marathon in just under 6 hours, 20 minutes. We won't know the tie breaker until Saturday afternoon and it does come into play. I scored two entrants with 19/20 so we're down to the tiebreaker. Well, not really. Unless I can set a personal best by about 5 minutes, FUJ is the winner. However, considering the asterick on question 19 and the amount of effort put into this contest I will also be sending a prize package to NICKM. You two really nailed this contest. I hope you enjoyed it.
Send me your addresses and collecting interests. I'll pull some cards this weekend and get your prizes out early next week.
Thanks to all who played. I hope you enjoyed the contest.

Brian, First off, congrats on making it to day 30! Hopefully it wasn't as painful as you first thought.
Thanks for putting together such a great contest. At first, I was only planning on trying to answer some of the easier questions but after I started reading about the set, I just couldn't stop. It ended up being a great crash course for me since I didn't know many details at all about "The Monster". Thanks again for the fun and educational contest!
I did it. 30 days with no card purchases. It wasn't easy but it wasn't as tough as I thought it would be which is a good thing. And on day 1 of my freedom, what did I buy? Nothing. There was four different lots from my watch list which closed earlier today and I forgot to place bids. I guess I didn't really want them after all. Acually, the problem is I've been considering how to get back active into my purchasing and what controls I will try to put in place but I do not have a solid plan yet. So, without a plan I'm holding off for now. The main problem is that I want to keep collecting what I have been collecting but also want to branch out a bit. Adding more cards to my wantlist does not seem a wise decision so I am trying to figure out what sets to put "on hold" while I clear some other items off my watch list. When I figure that out I'll dip my toes back into the waters.
During the past month I have been tracking lots I would have been active on and what their sales prices have been. In total there were 117 lots that sold for over $37k that I would have been bidding on. Realistically though I would have dropped out on a majority of them and would have topped the winning bid on 31 lots for about $2200. More than I should have spent and I'm glad that I didn't win all those lots. Of the 31 though there are really only 4-5 regrets. 1952 Topps PSA 7 high numbers for $200? 1977 Topps PSA 10's for $20? I hope this is a trend and not a missed opportunity.
During the past month I have found out that I am not the only one disappointed in the SMR. In general I find the magazine to be a waste of effort. I am not alone. Joe Orlando has spoken and says the magazine is being improved. However, the most recent SMR was a typical disaster. Generaly unreadable, totally lacking in substance, style and overall draw. I anxiously await the results but expect they will be so slow in coming and generally unnoticable that I am not holding my breath. So, I have gone out and subscribed to Old Cardboard. I also purchased all 20 back issues and expect this to be the magazine that I always wanted the SMR to be.
During the past month I have become more concerned about the future of the hobby. The lack of kids participating in the hobby at the lower ends has me concerned about the future. I have never actively included my children in my hobby and am looking for ways to get them more involved with what I do. They are old enough now and while I don't know if they have the desire to really get into it like I am I do plan on making an effort. This is one of the changes in scope that I mentioned above.
During the past month I have delved back into my existing collection. I've been scanning cards like a madman for the past month. I'm half way done with the graded cards and will continue until I'm done. I'm basically down to three sets left. 1952, 1953 and 1954 Topps. If you are interested in seeing scans you can always view them through the link at the bottom of my posts. I am enjoying what I have and want to keep making progress on my sets. I noticed that I don't have enough complete sets. Tons are in process but few have crossed that finish line. Time to re-focus what I am doing and get some things done. So, that is another area where I intend to refocus my efforts. By focusing.
During the past month I have noticed that I have a lot of stuff I really don't want. Those 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 10th 1989 Upper Deck sets really don't get me excited like one brand new card does. Figuring out how to thin out the excess will take some time. I do plan on working this down though. Anybody want complete sets or singles from 1981-1994? Get in touch. I did move a few cards during the past month and plan on focusing more in that area in 2010. Using my extras to fund my acquisitions. I've said this before though so we'll see if I can pull it off.
Stats for the last month:
1 card acquired through trade 3 cards traded away 8 cards sold 9 cads given away in contests so far.
Net -19 cards for the month. I haven't gone negative for a month in my entire life.
Thanks for following along. I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Good question. I forgot he was in the T206 set. Shag Shaughnassy holds that distinction. I spent the last 2 years living near Notre Dame so a lot of Golden Dome history sunk in during those two years.

Brian - this was a pretty entertaining and enjoyable thread. Thanks for your insights and sharing what you were going through. Congrats on making it through.
As for '52 high # PSA 7s, that looks like a missed opportunity. As for '77 PSA 10s, that looks like the wave of the future. ['80 PSA 10s are now routinely under $10, with some '78 and '79 PSA 10s dropping to $10 plus shipping.]

Stuff like this is what should be in the SMR! I enjoyed this thread a lot, so what month are you going to take off next?
Funny that you say that about soda...you'll never make a better decision. I gave it up about 4 years ago and couldn't believe how much better I felt. High Fructose Corn Syrup is one of the worst things for you. Stay strong.
collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
It was both reassuring and a bit horrifying reading this thread.
On the one hand, I'm glad to read that there are others as consumed as me. I try, I really try to NOT purchase cards, but I just can't break away. I took a stand last week after my wife raved at me. This really caused some problems when my wife found the credit card bill with Pay Pal charges amounting to more than her pay check last month--an indefensable position.
So I let all my eBay bids expire--(well not really, I still quietly purchased a gorgeous '61 high number that arrived today; I just couldn't resist--3 more to complete the set!) I actually removed some 20 or so items on my watched list.
I really fell off the wagon yesterday and today. I already have 36 more items I'm watching on eBay, and 14 bids. I tell myself, I can control this, but obviously I can't.
I absolutely understand your situation. Before this past month I have tried many, many times to slow down my spending with varying but all unsuccessful results. I entered the last month with no real expectation that I would really succeed at this but some how I made it through. I believe I succeeded because of the public support of the members of this forum and the decision to create a card related "project" to occupy my time. An interesting side effect is that even though I am now "permitted" to buy cards I can't do it. I am now on day 33 and have not bought anything. I did bid on something this morning but my bid was purposefuly low and I did not come close to winning. I felt relieved when I was immediately outbid. At some point I will begin buying again, perhaps as early as Wednesday when some lots I want are closing, but in the short term I don't expect another buying binge until I get my financial situation resolved.
One thing I learned during these 30 (now 33) days is that the cards I "have to have" will be there again next month. I kept track of the cards I didn't buy but wanted to and plan on crossing them off the list as I pick them up in the future. Hopefully I can get them for the same or less than they sold for last month.
If it makes you feel any better though, there are a lot of people here who have been through it.

So the big question is what are you going to write about next? I believe that everyone who read this thread wants you to start up another one. Maybe you can let us read what would be your future SMR articles. What do you think?
<< <i>So the big question is what are you going to write about next? I believe that everyone who read this thread wants you to start up another one. Maybe you can let us read what would be your future SMR articles. What do you think? >>
Do you think there is interest in a "30 days without soda" thread? Maybe a "30 day without porn" thread but I'm not committed enough for that project. That would just end up being a 30 day thread of recounting my lapses. Enjoyable perhaps but I doubt Cosetta would let us get beyond day 1.
I am still heavily commited to scanning my collection. As of tonight I'm down to three large stacks of cards. 1952 Topps, 1953 Topps and 1954 Topps. Approximately 850 cards left to scan which will take around 3 more weeks.
I'm open to suggestions though. If anything strikes my interests I might pursue it. My interests right now are on collecting a T-Card type set. The problem is I don't know a whole lot about the majority of those sets so I'd be writing from a Novice point of view. I'd probably still do a better job than the existing SMR writing corp. After all, they don't know anything about the cards they are writing about PLUS they are not interested in learning either.
Hmm....

I bought my first cards in over a month today. 1954 Topps Hockey #6 and 36. $99 each. VCP for the pair is probably around $500 so I feel like I had to do the deal. These were two cards that I missed during my month off. I went back, contacted the seller this morning and was able to work out a deal.
Time for another month off? Probably not, I have my eye on a card tomorrow but then I should lay low for a couple weeks.

I'm late to this party - but as a collector of 30 yrs I sure can relate.
I once put 7 min bids on a Greg Manning auction and won all of them! Got a 5400 bill!
We've talked about this many, many times....
My take?
1. have Focus 2. and establish a BUDGET 3. and LIVE BY IT!
My thinking:
1. You can go broke SAVING money on ebay. 2. Every time - for the most part - when ya see something ya have to buy on ebay - wait - another will come along soon enough - when ya truly have the spare money.
Collecting is fun Collecting is a disease Collecting as a hobby is only 1 synapse away from insanity!
Good luck to all of us who are collectaholics and can't help ourselves - no twelve stepper - just plain ole common sense - focus and budget, focus and budget, focus and budget!
Stone is right on the money. Focus, focus, focus. Know what you want , know what condition you want it in, and know what you are willing to pay. The few times I have had buyers remourse is when I made a purchase on the spur of the moment or purchased a lower condition card either to complete something or realizing I really can't afford what I want.

Which of the four players is not in the Hall, who are the four players and what connects them (other than all being in the set)?

d 1287 5099 4297 797 1273 200 79 20 596 401 554 .296 .394 .394
A - Harry Steinfeld B, C, D - Tinkers to Evers to Chance. This is the starting Cubs infield. Steinfeldt is the only one of the three not in Cooperstown.
Eddie Collins, Jack Quinn, Tris Speaker, Nap Lajoie. The 5th on my list is George Davis but I've probably got two different George Davis's here. So, the four above are a complete list.
Sam Crawford
6. Of the numerous Hall of Fame players in the set, only one appears on cards for two different teams. Name him.
Vic Willis
7. Some collectors choose to collect T206 team sets rather than attempt to put together the entire 524 card set. All 16 Major League teams are represented in the T206 set. Which team has the largest number of cards required to complete a team set? Which team has the smallest number of card required to complete a Major League team set?
New York Giants have the most cards (53). Boston Red Sox have the fewest (13)
Cleveland
Not exactly world record pace but I did finish. On November 7th I will be running a 5k. What will be my finishing time? Unless I can set a personal best by about 5 minutes, FUJ is the winner. First off, congrats on making it to day 30!

1 card acquired through trade
3 cards traded away
8 cards sold
9 cads given away in contests so far.
Net -19 cards for the month. I haven't gone negative for a month in my entire life.

collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started

Hmm....

My PSA Sets
I bought my first cards in over a month today. 1954 Topps Hockey #6 and 36. $99 each. VCP for the pair is probably around $500 so I feel like I had to do the deal. These were two cards that I missed during my month off. I went back, contacted the seller this morning and was able to work out a deal.
Time for another month off? Probably not, I have my eye on a card tomorrow but then I should lay low for a couple weeks.
30 days
the streak ends on day 34.

My PSA Sets
I once put 7 min bids on a Greg Manning auction and won all of them! Got a 5400 bill!
We've talked about this many, many times....
My take?
1. have Focus
2. and establish a BUDGET
3. and LIVE BY IT!
My thinking:
1. You can go broke SAVING money on ebay.
2. Every time - for the most part - when ya see something ya have to buy on ebay - wait - another will come along soon enough - when ya truly have the spare money.
Collecting is fun
Collecting is a disease
Collecting as a hobby is only 1 synapse away from insanity!
Good luck to all of us who are collectaholics and can't help ourselves - no twelve stepper - just plain ole common sense - focus and budget, focus and budget, focus and budget!
Is this a great hobby or what!
