Most likely it was due to the amount of settlement money that had to be paid out to said horse/woman in each case. I would say that phillips will most likely get sued by Mrs. Loaf if he decides to not see her anymore. This is his second time doing this from a position of power I bet if he loses this gig he is out for a good long time.

Ok now that I got it out of the way... This is another example of a poor soul or "leech" who knows no boundaries, this scenario will stand the test of time.
Is it really Steve Phillips fault? Aren't all successful people with some power victims.
"Abuse of Power" is irrelevant, it takes two consenting human beings to get here, circumstances or status should not be a factor.
Harold Reynolds was fired because of repeated offenses. Several sexual harassment claims filed against him by his fellow co-workers and he was warned several times. For those that follow Deadspin, this is nothing new for ESPN employees. From management to lowly PA's it's quite the work environment.
In an update to the story, Phillips was fired from ESPN Sunday night. His mistress, Brooke Hundley, was also fired. Guess I'll have to get used to Bobby Valentine's whiny voice on Baseball Tonight from now on...or at least until he bangs a coworker.

Baseball analyst Steve Phillips was fired by ESPN on Sunday night, less than a week after he admitted having an affair with a production assistant at the cable network.
A representative for Phillips also announced the former Mets general manager was entering a treatment facility "to address his personal issues."
Phillips' acknowledgment Wednesday of his relationship with 22-year-old Brooke Hundley was splashed across the New York tabloids for days, embarrassing the Bristol, Conn.-based sports giant.
"Steve Phillips is no longer working for ESPN," network spokesman Josh Krulewitz said in a statement. "His ability to be an effective representative for ESPN has been significantly and irreparably damaged, and it became evident it was time to part ways."
Phillips had taken a leave of absence after the affair became public. Krulewitz declined comment when asked Sunday night about Hundley's status with the company.
Steve Lefkowitz, Phillips' representative, said in an e-mail that his client "is voluntarily admitting himself to an inpatient treatment facility to address his personal issues, and informed ESPN of his plans Friday."
According to a police report filed in Wilton, Conn., Hundley began calling Phillips' wife, Marni, on Aug. 5 after he broke off the affair and sent her a letter graphically describing their relationship and the 46-year-old Phillips' birthmarks.
1) Don't hate on Steve Phillips because he was ripping off a piece at the office even if she did belong at Sea World. He might have been hooking up with Erin Andrews too for all we know and this other chick just couldn't keep her mouth shut.
2) If another member of the Baseball Tonight Squad decides to have unsavory relations with someone in the workplace then please let it be John Kruk because I'm sure he needs it.
3) If that said member of Baseball Tonight committing the next act of misconduct in the workplace happens to be the guy on the $20...what's his name, oh yeah, Peter Gammons...then I'll never watch that show or baseball again.
according to reports, Phillips has entered an in patient facitlity for sex addicts. He reportedly requested and received the Wade Boggs suite. I just texted him to see if they had any vacancies.
I don't know storm, she says alot of things like that she was in immediate danger and got a restraining order against Phillips only to drop it 24 hours later. She has little credibility with her stalking the son and trying to get someone off craigslist to phone Phillips wife and terroize her.
Also that play is straight out of the crazy girl after Roethlisberger, she too claims she complained and was told to basically do whatever the celebrities wanted, wink wink. I can't believe any real HR person would dismiss either persons claims like that in today's day and age, sounds more like a conversation she had with a co-worker or in her head.
