Who is Paul Nugget?

LongacreLongacre Posts: 16,717 ✭✭✭
I was reading the blog of a BIG dealer on the West Coast, who is an expert in Southern gold and early gold. In his blog, he makes the following statement:

"I’d like to thank my good friend Paul Nugget, from Spectrum East Numismatics, who helped me prepare this list and whose expertise in the area of pre-1834 gold is unrivalled."

Personally, I have never heard of Paul Nugget, but that does not mean anything. How does he stack up against the other big early gold dealers that we all know about?

He's very BIG in U.S. gold coins. I am surprised that you have not heard of him before. I met him at the FUN show a couple years ago.

Paul Nugget is a major player, actually one of the biggest players, in better date gold. He has over 40 years of experience in the business. He contracts with Spectrum so he could be found at shows at the Spectrum booth.

Longtime contributor to the Red Book. Don't you read the contributors page in each new edition?!

See page 7 of the 2010 edition, third column, 18 names down from the top.

I don't know about this. He can't be THAT big if Mr. Longacre has never heard of him image

Longacre knowability aside, many of the major players in the business do not interact directly with the public so their names may not be familiar to retail buyers or small-time dealers but they are well known to the well connected dealers.

Paul is truly the man when it comes to early gold coinage. Not only is he a very knowledgeable dealer, he is also a great guy.
