Are the obverse rim nicks as pronounced as your images seem to indicate?

Otherwise, it looks whizzed to me...

Interesting. What you have there is a circulated proof. See the die scratch from the sea to the cotton bale? Here's a blow up that shows the die scratch in detail on a proof coin:

Since most proofs stay out of circulation, I wonder what the circumstances were that this one did enter commerce?

good catch tdn. i could not even see that in the first pics and would
have never noticed it in the second. but once you state it is there

Paid $325, needed that year and instead of paying full retail, I think I got a steal. Although I am not sure what this coin is worth. I wonder if it would slab at all?

Those rim bumps may inhibit a problem-free holder but it is an "impaired proof" anyways since it's circulated. I think it is say to say that it is worth more than $325.

Just called them. According to the person who answered the phone, circulated Proofs get AU designations.
