Wipe Off & Forgery... come on PSA...

You've graded plenty of these... and you couldn't tell this was a wipe off & forge Pujols.

Might be the most blatant one of these I've ever seen. Auto is clearly inconsistent with his signature of the time and of every single other 01 Finest out there... bolder and cleaner than any other out there... and almost half the size of any other out there on that card.

<< <i>I don't know Pujols autos.....but what would be the point of that? just to get a cleaner auto? >>
Almost all of Pujols autographs from this set have a faded sig. A bolder signature will go for more than a faded one.
Im surprised he didn't send this one to BGS to try and get an autograph graded
there would be nothing left to talk about here.

Once again, you fail to see the real point of what's being posted, and it's another juvenile attempt to pop off about Pujols.
This IS about a card that the OP believes to be altered, by one of the biggest alleged fake patch makers, trimmers, and forgers in the hobby. If that possibility doesn't concern everyone on this board, then I wonder why they are even still in the hobby??

Let me guess, you are now going to blame us for starting the trainwreck.
It was just a joke. Relax.

i'm not attacking Pujols, per se.
quite honestly i hate the WHOLE TEAM.
<< <i>I bet an autograph authenticator never even saw this card, as the flip says nothing about PSA/DNA certification. They certified the card as a 10, but not the autograph. Any major manufacturer autographed card post-1998 can be sent in without going through the "autographed card service." This might be something they should reconsider if people are going to "redo" autographs. >>
Bingo!
Until PSA changes up their policy on grading cards with autographs, we are going to see cards like this. The seller is selling it relying on the Gem Mint 10. Educated buyers would know that the card is graded, not the auto.
I'm half tempted to wipe off an auto on a card, draw a smiley face and submit it to PSA, just so they can see how unreliable that policy is.

Do you think that would matter? He has a ton of fake auto's graded by above said company. He's just a scum bag that should be banned.

IMO Burge has switched to PSA for scams like this because PSA cards were bringing a better return than BGS cards.

So you don't think that PSA is catching the altered cards, and that is why Burge is using them to cash in?

He is sending cards that are factory signed to Psa. He got a 1992 Jeter Little Suns by them which sold for about $1200. He got a signed 1993 SP Jeter pass Sgc which sold for $2000. I also know for a fact he got a signed 2001 UD Tiger pass Psa that sold for around 4k.
He also has gotten many Topps Photo Shoots pass Bgs & Psa. I know Bgs & Psa wont grade his stuff anymore but he uses friends & alias to send cards in.

look at his other auctions, your suggestion wouldn't work because he IS getting cards by psa/dna, the only thing to do is ban him, there's threads all over the internet about getting shut down by JSA and SGC (even comments by employees of those companies), he's burned every one of them.

WTB: 2001 Leaf Rookies & Stars Longevity: Ryan Jensen #/25
A wipe and replace autograph doesn't affect the corners, edges, or centering unless you do something stupid in handling it, and it's apparently fairly easy to do without damaging the surface of the card.
Because they're post-1998 and manufacturer-certified, no one is checking the authenticity of the signatures.

<< <i>STTM - why do you assume that he is doing alterations beyond wiping and replacing the signature on all these cards? There is a substantial market discount for faded signatures, even if the card is a 10 otherwise.

I assumed he was somehow counterfeiting the card, then forging the auto.
It hurts the Pujols market. I'd love to buy a Pujols auto at some point, but after seeing these threads there is no way I'd buy one without having him sign in person.
<< <i>What a wasted conversation. Burge has been banned from PSA for a while. That is the main reason that a significant portion of his autctions are for GAI and BGS cards. >>
Again you are wrong he was banned from Bgs 1st then went to Psa & got banned from them. Now he's using Gai. He always used Bgs because modern cards always sold for more. After Bgs banned him he had no choice but to go to Psa.

maybe PSA has to stop taking the word of the manufacturer (because they are too easy to erase and fake apparently) for these sticker autos (post 1998).... i understand that would add another layer of authentication and submitters may need to pay for the AUTO (psa/dna) authentication, in addition to the card grade, but on a valuable card this may be worth it....
PSA may have to provide the grading OPTION of Auto Authentication (sort of in the same way JSA does with BGS)....that way they can still grade Fleer Legacy Cards and other cards where forgeries are an issue...i know they do that with vintage signed cards now.
lets face it, when cards have good value (such as Pujols 2001 cards) there are bound to be unscrupulous people looking to make a dishonest buck! its up to the collecting Community and TPG's to stop them!

arent we lucky he chimed into ANOTHER thread he has no business in...
I did deals with him twice at the National and personally witnessed him pick up two deliveries from their booth and submit one other.
Now, I'm not here to justify his character, dealings, etc.
He had cards I was looking for that others did not and I was able to deal with him to get what I wanted.
I'm just saying, unless it's a recent ban since the National... he is absolutely not banned from PSA. The boards, maybe, but certainly not from getting his stuff graded and/or authenticated by PSA.

Altering a card can be forging a signature, trimming, recoloring, ect... I never specified one in particular. I believe you misunderstood my comments. Although, I will say that Burge has bragged publicly, to different people, about how good he has become at getting stuff into PSA holders. I don't know how accurate his boastful comment truly are, but just look at how many of his auctions are currently listed on Ebay in PSA slabs, and the guy is one of the biggest alleged trimmers in our hobby.....
