Too bad, on the face of it, it looked to be a pretty nice deal from Steiner.

10/07/2009 VISA CHECKCARD DB-POINT OF SALE
STEINER SPORTS MARKTNG NEW ROCHELLE Debit $14.98
<< <i>Did they add that after all the responses?
Steve >>
yep, that's what it looks like... I was trying to use it before noon yesterday and the site was very slow - checked back after lunch and a message posted to call to use the code.
Poor customer service on Steiner - I think they may lose some future customers over this.

From what I saw of most of their prices I'd be surprised if this had much affect. I would hope most people would walk away after seeing a $50 8x10 auto for sale for $249.99. With $50 off it brought SOME stuff down to ALMOST normal levels.

I agree - like the Upper Deck store their prices are crazy for anything good.
Sounds like a weasal move by Steiner.

I am thinking the same thing we need an example of one, and then we can just change it , might work

I wonder if making one up would work? It's a seven digit code starting with 122
LeagueLeader; IJustLoveCards; Recbball; msassin; leathtech; lsutigers1973; Bosox1976; Dboneesq; Aric; Bkritz
BUT, if you can find the number format, it might be worth a try.
It would be a lot of work for the vendor to check each number, one
at a time.
...........
Meanwhile, there are several 25%-off coupons on the internet
that would help folks who ordered items in the $200 range.
off and are now being charged 150.00?
Can they at least cancel the order?
Steve

Of course, and most will.

I tried to buy items, the charge went through but I'm assuming they will reverse the charge after Oct 9 since I can't provide a season ticket number.
And yes I agree their prices are outrageous.

Have you gotten an email letting you know that you have until Oct 9th to provide a season ticket number or your order will not be honored?

Since this was not in place initially, I assume it was later set up due to the numerous responses they had from the different boards I've seen this on.
They should know by now any code will be abused unless you have measures to stop it at the initial time of ordering.
<< <i>How in the world did they think in the age of the internet this would stay with just ticket holders! There are websites out there that just list codes... they should have required the season ticket number with the code - Steiner will never get any of my money! >>
They won't get any of my money either. Not because of this but because I can find the same items for half the price (or better) elsewhere. I imagine they still made a profit on most of the stuff they sold even with $50 off.

I agree, I think they make their money mainly off the uniformed collector or the collector that doesn't really care about the money being spent (just has to have the coolest item) - I'm sure Steiner really doesn't care to much about the hard core collectors that respond on message boards!!!!
On a serious note, I looked over the entire website and couldn't find anything that I wanted to drop even the shipping charges on. The closest thing that looked like I might want it was the freeze dried Yankee Stadium grass and the authentic Texas Stadium Turf, both of which would have made great arenas for my fantasy ant football league.
I want to apologize for this, I feel responsible for this seems how I posted the code. As I said, I got it from another web site and I thought I was doing something
to help out fellow collectors. I'm sorry if I have caused anyone any headaches, I was just trying to be helpful.

<< <i>I haven't received an email from them asking for confirmation, but they haven't charged my card yet either. >>
Nor have I, thou having a coupon code repealed would add to the hundreds I have had in the past. Not shocking in teh slightest.
<< <i>I have not gotten an e-mail yet, but I did get e-mail Spam from Steiner today to buy more of their overpriced goods. If my order does not go through it is not the end of thw world as I would never pay their prices in the first place. >>
I agree with you Justin ... I was also one who sent MANY PMs to fellow board members telling them about the code. I see NOTHING wrong with any of us using the code to get the discount ... I was never informed that it was only for Yankee Season Ticket Holders and no place on the check out screen was this mentioned. IMO it's Steiner's fault for not listing the conditions necessary to use the code.

I am sure these guys buying from Steiner just want to hang it up at their bars and offices and don't care about price.
<< <i>It was our faults for trying to rip Steiner off using the $50 off coupon that was ONLY supposed to be for Yankee season ticket holders who purchases postseason tickets. The code was leaked out on 4 sites I visit daily, and people were placing 5-6 separate orders with the same address. The code was never meant for the general public.

I don't see how most of you guys don't get this. If you found the initial offer from Steiner, it probably describes in detail that you need to buy Yankee tickets to get this discount. Just because you got the code and didn't read the rules, does not entitle you to the discount.

Offering a discount with stipulations is perfectly fine as long as the stipulations are spelled out BEFORE the transaction is completed and accepted. Steiner did not have a safety net in place to ensure that those redeeming the code were, in fact, season ticket holders and accepted and processed the transactions WITHOUT stating the conditions. They can claim their intent, but the fact of the matter is that by accepting and processing the charges, they have entered into contract. The proper way to have had the coupon would have been to have a pop up or other statement BEFORE processing that stated that the coupon was ONLY for Yankees Season Ticket holders and that confirmation of such may be required.
Steve
I tried the code and placed an order, than received the email asking for my season ticket #.
Since I don't have one, oh well.
Not a big deal to me

Nice to see some people get it... Steiner was lazy with this promo - but like others have said $50 in most cases still does not eat into their mark up!

That IS how the judge would likely see it, but it seems like
the vendor would see the "mixup" as a chance to get a few
new customers for cheap.

Couldn't care less. I really see no need to bicker about it.
I appreciate someone taking the time to initially post the code.
My card has been charged and I have not received any further emails from them other than a spam for some junk.
Same thing for the item my mother ordered. I called and spoke with her today.
<< <i>I'd be happy to donate my Yankee season ticket license number (it's 7 digits) to one person on the board if someone wants to try and use it. >>
That's very nice of you, but I would think they would cross reference it with the name of the ticket holder.
