weird card offer?

Hi guys
I listed a card on ebay, and got this ebay message from a guy:

"i I would like to know if you would sell this item as a buy it now for 25.00 please let me know thanks"

so I decide to sell it... I pull the card from ebay... send payment info.... dude responds with this:

"HI John I was only inquireing about the Card - I never said I would buy ?"

what a jerk move.... why even initiate if you dont want to buy it.

What a jerk ... who was the buyer?

  • well, technically he never said that he would buy the item. but i agree he is somewhat weird.
  • If you're still willing to part with your item for a BIN of $25, I'll go ahead and withdraw my offer once you agree.
  • odd, but it does sound like he wanted you to change the auction to a BIN, not pull it down for outside of ebay transaction..

Don't be paranoid. The eBay police are not going to take the time to investigate his message board user name versus eBay ID and then go through the time to build a case.

Why would he even ask if he did not want it?

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Not trying to hijack the thread, but I had a weird one yesterday as well. Guy sends me a message telling me he'd pay $3.00 for a $5.00 card and asks if I combine shipping as there are two more cards he wanted. I answer his question about combined shipping, but never answer him on dropping the price on the card. He goes ahead and buys the card for $5.00 and another one for $2.00 and paypals right away. I take a look at his feedback and it's private...now I'm wondering if I'm going to get a negative from him for not dropping the price.

Never pull your card from auction until the $ is in your paypal account.
If he wants it off ebay, have him pay first.

Yea I pulled it, trying to be nice to make sure it didnt get bids and he could have the card. that is the kind of service I would want if I made an offer, pull it immediately and give me payment instructions. Guess thats what I get for trying to help the guy out.
