JoeNuxhall. One of 2 autographs I wanted to get. (also Hank Aaron). I am not a fan of buying autos second hand, I prefer to say hello and get them in person. Sadly I never got to one of Joes signings. I am looking for his 1952 Topps card which is readily available. Problem is quality is too low or price is too high. Someday I will find a PSA 1 or 2 with decent eye appeal.
I believe when it comes to massive collections of ANY player that's basically worthless to 99% of the world, I might have one of the world's largest... if not THE world's largest.
I posted a thread a while back, but REALLY need to update it... honestly, it's WAY behind the times. Just to give you a little taste of it's rediculousness, I just added GRADED cards #547 and 548 to my slabbed Sabo collection yesterday. I'm sure there are TONS of player collections out there much more massive than 548 slabbed cards... but we're talking about Chris Sabo here. He has barely over 300 known/recognized cards in existence... though I have a few that aren't 'recognized' on any checklists.
The pile of raw is in the 45,000/50,000 count range at this piont.... haven't counted it, probably never will.
I will post an updated thread one of these days....

Sid Bream.............Those of us who are Braves fans remember the run from 2nd
I used to live by Sid. He is a class act all the way. I once thought of having him sign a Stan Belinda card. Right after that debacle in 1992, I sold a rifle to Belinda.
p.s. I know. I know. Drabek is the one who walked Bream, but Belinda is a much better scapegoat.

By Providence Friar "alums", are you saying that Marvin Barnes actually has a diploma from Providence? The Bob Costas story about Barnes not wanting to get into "any time machine" is classic!!!

My position in baseball was catcher, so I have to collect Mike Scioscia and Steve Yeager. I enjoy watching the way that Scioscia manages the Angels. Yeager managed a minor league team here in Long Beach and was a great guy. That team is now managed by Garry Tempelton.
Don't think he is a uber superstar yet but I've been helping my daughter collect Grady Seizmore cards. To be honest I think she's only collecting his cards because she thinks he's cute.......my daughters 12 years old so you can understand.
Wow...this is great stuff folks! When I started this thread, I wondered if anyone would respond! I loved reading all of these answers!!!! For some reason, when a pitcher for the Mets named Anthony Young lost something like 27 consecutive games between 1992 and 1993, I started to buy a ton of his cards....obviously for cheap!!! Finding all the cards of his that I have recently was another inspiration for this thread!
One of my favorite players when I was younger was Steve Rogers of the Expos. I always routed for the underdogs , whoever they were . I'm collecting his cards as I am able. His cards are not a priority , but I have a few ( #1 Steve Rogers master set ).
I've collected some others as well . I have the all time Randy Jones (Padres ) master set and the all time Nate Colbert ( Padres ) basic set.
I also am piecing together both the Mario Mendoza ( already on the registry ) and the Ray Oyler sets .
Both of these guys were terrible hitters . Both were underdogs . Both made it and stayed in the majors , while millions of us who played as well , sat home. Their sets are a tribute to whatever they had , that we did not.
