2006 ASE 20th Anniversary Population Report - MS vrs PFDC Totals
I sent my last mint sealed box to PCGS. It was received on the 18th and I got the online grades on the 22nd. Super fast turn around.
Anyways, out of 4 sets I get 70 on 2 of the MS burnished so I go look up the Pop report to see how many there are. Only 210 out of 11,839.
Then I look at the 2006 W PFDC (got 1 70 of these too) Eagle-20th Anniversary Pop Report and see the total number graded at 14,549.
How can this be? I thought to get the 20th Anniversary designation, the MS and PFDC had to be sent in unopened mint sealed boxes because they were also available through individual purchase options from the mint.
Shouldn't the populations of each be the same?
I also notice there is a total Pop of 1 2006 Eagle-20th Anniversary in PFCA.. it's a 68... could be the lowest priced eagle with a total pop of 1 ever.

Many opened their 20th ASE sets when they arrived.
That made the uncirculated coin ineligible for 20th label.
In an opened set only the reverse proof automatically gets the 20th label.
Then there was that peskly little problem where for almost a year PCGS would give no ASE a MS70 regardless of how good it looked.
I believe someone with a good eye could do well looking for FS 20th ASE uncirculated in MS69 that might and I stress might get reholdered to MS70.
There is absolutely no reason the % MS69 vs. MS70 for these 20th coins should be any different from the ratios for the non 20th uncirculated 2006-W ASEs EXCEPT for the fact that at present the MS70 20th ASEs are the money coin and we all know PCGS is always harder in grading on a coin when it is the 'money coin'.

If not I'd guess around $3000-3500

I think you're confusing the ASE set with the AGE set.

Divide by 10 and you are closer to what the 20th Annv SAE sets (unopened) are likely to go for.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I agree that there are many of the early 20th MS 69's that should be in 70 plastic if not for the fear of "milk spot" issue.
Not counting the Revese Proof, which will get the 20th Anniversary designation no matter how they were submited, sealed or not.
There are14,549 Regular Proofs that are designated as 20th Anniversary. It would stand to reason 14,549 sealed sets were sent to PCGS for grading, but there are only 11,839 MS that have the 20th Anniversary designation.
I don't understand how there can be 2710 less of one than the other since they all had to be sent in together in unopened mint packaging.
It seems very unlikely to me, a bunch of folks requested not have their MS coins graded.
I'll add somethig else that struck me as odd about the Pop Reports. It shows no MS First Strike total although there are First Strike totals for the Proof and Reverse Proof.
Must just be a bookkeeping error of some sort.

Sorry.............I was thinking of sealed master boxes of 10 sets.

These were called the Judas Boxes since they each had 30 pieces of silver.
