Jay, Just remember it could be much worse. In a contentious divorce fought in court where the judge has to decide on everything down to the bathroom break schedule, the lawyers can keep billing until they have more then half and your "half"of what is left may be 10% or worse yet, split the hung over legal debt!!! When I finally settled with my ex wife I was instructed to make the settlement check out to her attourney as it was less than her accumulated legal fees.

I will be collecting CASH! No matter what you have (under say, $10 million) "Half of everything" is a kick in the ass.

Probably wise. Everyone should try to keep at least $10 million liquid on the side in case of an emergency. image

Agreed, MrEureka. I'm working on that very plan myself, and only have 99.93% of the way left to go.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I am pretty lax on keeping records and inventory of what i have. I have a feeling my wife has a accurate inventory of my stuff. image

I started over 20 years agpo, i convinced my wife that we would be better off coming to terms with the property split then to let the lawyers and judge do it for us. Of course we had very little at that time.

I'd like to know your secret for keeping Half. After the taxes are paid from having to liquidate assets to split them, Uncle Sam and the State get's their half, you're only left with one fourth. Welcome to the Common Man World Sainty.

"Half" refers to half. I didn't feel the need to do a tax filing when making that statement. Being close to 55 years old I'm familiar with the IRS and their partnership. I'll handle them.

Perhaps you could make safe passage with the 7 Saints to Dublin, Jay. As the birthplace of Saint Gaudens they would most certainly protect you from extradition. Perhaps you could open a small cafe and Ortolanery to support yourself and family.

I'm a little confused, are you keeping some and selling half? Or are you selling all and using half the proceeds to buy back a few?

I'll buy each Saint from you for $10. You then give up half of the proceeds and I'll sell them back to you for $5 each. Hey it's worth the $5 loss to me to see the coins in the hands of one who appreciates them. image

I am selling all of them. Wifey is too shrewd to let a few slip past her meathooks. image

Ortolanery? Interesting name and concept. Hummmm. image

Though they love Ortolan. Their favorite is still Almond, boneless, spineless Chicken.

When I was bid significantly higher than the market levels last year. I did so without much concern, since those coins in MS66 are really not that hard to find. It's MUCH harder to find a solid 1929 ms65 or a 1931-D ms65 which I kept.

There are other 1932 Saints out there that are just as good? That coin was gorgeous!

    No, likely not.

It's one I wish I still had. But frankly, with me selling in Jan. I don't see much upside that it could realize then. I paid a lot for it since I planned on holding it for another decade.

Sir, you seem very highly regarded on this forum. I hope that the coins do well at auction. It is certainly a substantial group of Saints.
