Louise 1861 Half dollar ... is it a Confederate half ...???

  I'd like to think that coin was carried by Confederate soldier (perhaps at Antietam, Gettysburg, or Chancellorsville) and all he had on his mind was getting back home to is darling Louise....
  
  That's one of many things I love about coins, the history and possibilities are endless.

  Odds are it was struck by the South. 7 out of 8 1861 Halves were.
  So it's likely a "Confederate Half", in a sense.
  As far as the world never knowing..............
  I'm sure Bill Bugert could make a pretty good guess based on the obverse characteristics.
  If you're thinking a "Confederate Half", (with the Confederate reverse) I'd say it's real doubtful anyone would have carved one of them into a love token.
  Anyone seeing that reverse would hang onto the coin.
