You would still be money ahead with the new eBay Promo (You'll earn $200.00 in eBay Bucks. See conditions eBay bucks)

If ya go to the sale - there's an alternate scan. Still poor - in fact it appears that this isn't even a unanimous 10 - the surface is a 9.5?

I rarely, if ever, comment on this kind of stuff - I mean - everyone has a right to do what they want with their money...

    But - WOW!

Something comes to mind - perhaps this person has more money than brains?

That BGS 10 looks like a PSA 8.5 Chaz

Mike, that PSA 10 you posted looks way better than the BGS 10...

I wouldn't spend that kind of money even if I was a billionare. I would just buy 15-20 PSA 10's image

<< <i>Other than that, wow! I do think 60k is a bit high, but don't see any problem with BGS 10 getting a big premium over where PSA 10's trade.

But for cards like the one we're discussing that are considered the "best of the best" examples of the best athlete of a generation, how do you go wrong buying this card as a long-term investment? >>

As far as long term potential, I'd bet it follows the same path as the SI Tiger previously mentioned.
Someone will end up paying $100K for a $10K card and that is fine but
for me, I'd rather have a PSA 10 in my collection - less likely to be trimmed. >>

Well if this card is trimmed it was trimmed when PSA graded it too... The card in question was bought at a show and taken directly to Beckett for a crossover it was not cracked and sent in raw..

Also this card sold for 150 grand the first time it was sold.. it was a pop 1 at the time now it's a pop 2 the sencond pristine was a SGC 98 crossover..

Beckett has graded over 23,000 1986 fleer cards and there's a 8 or 9 pristines so they are not just handing out 10's like some may suggest....

Would I pay that much for this card? Nope... But the person who does has alot more money than me and probally has no problem spending big money on alot of stuff that I wouldn't.. from food to the kind of wine they drink or the clothes on their back...

It's about as "foolish" as someone paying over 2 grand for a 1986 topps Nolan Ryan PSA 10.. >>

Let me see if I have this straight: Beckett has designated 9 Pristines out of approximately 23,000 1986 fleer cards, and (at least) one of those Pristines was given to a card that resided in a slab when it was graded? So whatever minute differences there are between a 9.5 and a 10 are detectable while the card is secured in tamper-proof plastic. They don't even have to "hold" the card to give it a Pristine grade. Yep, makes complete sense to me. image

what's there to be confused about? is it that hard to understand? Beckett cracked the card out of the PSA slab as the person who owned it wanted it in a BGS holder..

Who said they assigned the grade of 10 while the card was still slabbed?? Who said what the submitter requested as a minimum grade? you do know the only time a grading company will attempt to grade a card while still slabbed is when a customer selects a minimum grade right? Otherwise they will just crack it and go from there...

Are you still confused? if so maybe someone can try to explain this a little clearer.. I know it's pretty mind boggling..

<< <i>Its all about who has the biggest %^#%#% in the chicken coop.

People pay 300k for new cars that probably dont ride any better than some of the 20k ones, but who is the lady leaving the nightclub with? Exactly, the guy with the biggest ^%#%#%$%!!!! >>

lol: I am going to have to disagree with this one. I am pretty sure that 99% of girls out there have never been seduced because of a baseball card collection. I am also pretty sure that most of us, including myself, would probably initially hide the fact that I am an avid card collector when picking up a chick at the bar/club. image >>

I always carry a picture of my PSA 9 52 Mantle with me to the bar/club trying to pick up girls, i also put a lot of padding ( bunch of one dollar bills) in my wallet. we know what girls want. image

Sorry, I misread the "crossover comments". I didn't realize it was cracked first. I apologize for being an idiot and an a-hole.

Nowhere did I say or imply the submitter requested a minimum grade. And for the record, I don't really care when a company attempts to grade a card while it is slabbed. The fact that they ever do it is mind-boggling, at least to my small mind.

this may have been mentioned already (guilty of not reading the entire thread), but this is probably a bogus auction.

look at the sellers other auctions and graded items (or lack thereof) and past sales.

how do you mix a few psa and bgs/bccg 9s with a $70k card? seems odd.

    Thanks,

    David (LD_Ferg)
