BBCE question

I was thinking of buying a box of 2001 Upper Deck Baseball Series 2 Retail Foil for $89. I was hoping to pick up a nice Pujols and Ichiro instead of buying one by itself (you know the whole thrill of ripping all those packs.)
Is BBCE a good source? are they legit? is $89 too much to pay for one of these boxes?
Here is the link to the box: 2001 UD Series 2 Foil

Are there any other boxes from 2001 that you would recommend are a good buy? Maybe with better odds of picking up a good Pujols or Ichiro?

Can't speak for the price but I've been doing business with them for some time and very pleased.

I figure that if I pull a couple Pujols and Ichiros, then get them graded then it would pay for itself. Anyone have any experience with 2001 UD? What's the chance of pulling a couple of these cards?

    Did you really ask that?

As far as the box goes, I believe the rookies were all high # SP's seeded like 2 per box. I believe there were a total of 30 rookies in the set. So your chances of pulling even one of the two would only be slim. Pulling both of them is next to impossible.
  • As others have noted, BBCE is the best way to buy unopened. Don't worry if you pay a bit of a premium, it's better than buying a bunch of searched garbage.

Yeah....I mean what crazy fool would want more than just ONE opinion???

Here is my opinion on BBCE...I wouldnt do business on unopened material with ANYONE else even at HALF the price they charge! BBCE is the RollsRoyce on a road full of Yugos.

He got more than enough comments about BBCE on this thread and one other. You can search the entire forum and probably not find many, if any, negative comments about BBCE.

I was referring to the question about the 01 UD retail box.

No. Most are retail boxes are going to have the same odds. Hobby boxes are going to be much more expensive and a lot of the auto rookies were redemption cards.

The best boxes at a decent price from '01 are Leaf Rookies & Stars as Oakesy mentioned. However, I busted about 10 cases of them in '02 when they were only selling for about $40/box. Never pulled a single Pujols regular or auto rookie. Only decent auto rookies I pulled were Prior (sold for $200 in '03) and Teixeira. Actually pulled 3 Tex auto'd rookies. The only Pujols card I pulled was the Slideshow jersey rookie #'d to 25.

If you can find any '01 Leaf Limited, they are usually about the same price of Leaf R&S but you get a lot more hits per box. But again, I busted a lot of cases of them in '02 and never pulled a Pujols or Ichiro.
